The Opportunity 

Insitro aims to accelerate the drug development pipeline by combining cutting-edge machine learning, clinical data and high-throughput science. We believe that reliable automation is essential to conduct sophisticated and reproducible experiments to feed into our algorithms. We are looking for an Automation Support Specialist to ensure scientists can rely on lab automation equipment for any experiment, at any time.  This is an incredible opportunity to work alongside amazing scientists and engineers. As an automation support specialist, you are responsible to keep  our laboratory automation up and running at all times. You will be a member of the Automation Industrialization team and work closely alongside our Automation Development and Operations teams to identify and resolve critical and/or intermittent problems. Since we work with human cells, our experiments typically run for several days. We are looking for a candidate that can support the systems needed to run such experiments either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday (5 days/week).

About You 
  • You are motivated, with a can-do attitude
  • You are willing to learn and grow in lab automation 
  • You have experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Willing to work a weekend schedule
  • You are excited to dig into root cause failure analysis
  • Excellent documentation skills 
  • Experience with performing maintenance task and verification checks on laboratory equipment
  • Able to collaborate with Biologists, Engineers and Data Scientists to resolve complex issues.
  • Can communicate with external vendors 
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline - or equivalent through experience
  • We will consider candidates with any length of professional experience
Nice to Have
  • Experience with 3D printing, machining and other fabrication techniques
  • Experience with data analysis 
  • Experience with at least one programming language
Compensation & Benefits at insitro
 Our target starting salary for successful US-based applicants for this role is $90,000 -$100,000. To determine starting pay, we consider multiple job-related factors including a candidate’s skills, education and experience, market demand, business needs, and internal parity. We may also adjust this range in the future based on market data. 
 
This role is eligible for participation in our Annual Performance Bonus Plan (based on company targets by role level and annual company performance) and our Equity Incentive Plan, subject to the terms of those plans and associated policies.
