Meet the Team:Â
The Product release team is responsible for defining and executing the Torc release framework to deploy driverless self-driving trucks. The release framework ensures functional completeness, production quality, safety, security, and reliability of the product. The manager of this team will lead the definition, design, development, and execution of Torc’s validation strategy. They will partner with a wide array of teams like system, safety, autonomy software, testing and release teams. This person owns the validation strategy, leading the process from inception through launch. This is a critical input to our release argumentation for commercial driverless deployment on public roads
What you'll do:Â
- Provide leadership, direction and definition for validation lifecycle including planning, scheduling, coordination, and implementation
- Update, manage and maintain state of the art validation strategy
- Define strategies for product release and associated risks with mitigations
- Verify inputs to the validation claim via evidence and review
- Plan validation activities and work with several test teams to ensure adherence to overall release planÂ
- Act as gatekeeper for delivery into production by ensuring understanding, monitoring, and tracking the progress of changes targeted for each release
- Report and communicate to leadership on critical gaps on traceability, defensibility, and completeness
- Provide direction and train teams to apply quality methods such as 5W’s, DFSS, FMEA or othersÂ
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with PMO (Program Management Office), Product Owners, Engineering, and other stakeholders within and between ARTs (Agile Release Train) (Agile Release Train) and teams to ensure strategic and execution alignment
- Supervisory responsibilities include new hire selection, onboarding, goal setting, career pathing and professional development, employee team building and training, performance management, scheduling and assigning work, resource management and controlling expenses, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures. Proactively manages employee relations and conflict while representing Torc’s core values
- Identify hiring needs, partner with People Operations and Talent Acquisition, and assist in the recruiting, screening, interviewing, selection, and hiring processes for talent across multidisciplinary teams. Recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations
Accomplishes team objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes with the highest degree of quality and safety
 What you’ll need to Succeed:Â
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent with 5+ years relevant experience OR Â
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent with 7+ years relevant experience
- 2+ years overall progressive technical systems or software development experience and 2+ years as individual technical contributor
- 2+ years’ experience leading engineers in the delivery of safety critical software solutions that include complex algorithm development and data models, with emphasis on best practices in coding standards, testing, and systems integration
2+ years of experience with launching safety critical commercial products Â
- Minimum 1+ years performing personnel management activities including but not limited to personnel timecard approvals, performance planning and evaluations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution, recruiting and onboarding, and ensuring compliance to software policies and procedures
- Minimum 1 year experience applying Agile principles (Scrum/Kanban)
- Experience in software development, operating systems, development languages, and deployment of software products, or systems engineering including networking, database management, virtual environments, system design, integration, and maintenance
- Exhibit strong servant leadership characteristics and willingness to support the career growth of others and strong facilitation, technical team coaching, and critical systems thinking
- Able to collect, analyze, and report data related to team efficiencies and progress and proficient knowledge of working with product and/or quality managers, with understanding of business-level priorities
