Summary
Serves as an Aviation Safety Assistant in a Flight Standards Field Office. Provides administrative support to Aviation Safety Inspectors by obtaining background data, preparing reports, reviewing applications, interviewing applicants, processing certificates, and maintaining office files.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the FG-6 level:
You must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG-5 or FV-D (FG-5/6) level. Specialize experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience includes:
Performing a variety of administrative and clerical work, such as, assist in researching, writing and typing non-technical and routine correspondence; reviewing and distributing incoming correspondence; maintaining files; general office support; preparing reports; examining documents for accuracy and completeness; entering and retrieving information from a variety of automated systems.
To qualify for this position at the FG-7 level:
You must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG-6 or FV-D (FG-5/6) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience includes:
Knowledge of agency directives and various agency policies governing technical programs; performing a variety of technical administrative work, such as, preparing complex reports; assisting in interpreting and implementing newly modified agency directives and determining action needed; managing records; providing tracking and validation support of funds for employee travel; assist in writing complex technical and non-technical correspondence and reports; researching technical data; reviewing and analyzing complex information; and interpreting directives.

Promotion Potential: If selection is made at the FG-6 level, selectee may be promoted to the FG-7 without further competition upon recommendation by the supervisor.
