AVL Engineer

The Position

An exciting opportunity to work in the dynamic and fast-paced world of immersive entertainment. Cosm AVL engineers form the technical backbone of our daily venue operations. Our AVL engineers ensure seamless operation of our world-class technology, looking after all aspects of its implementation, maintenance, and improvement. Our goal is nothing short of incredible guest experiences every day, every visit.

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

REPORTS TO: Sr. Director, Product Management

For CA-based applicants: 

• The base salary range for this position is $110,000- $115,000 

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with all Cosm venue and tech ops teams
• Be the subject matter expert for venue display systems hardware and software
• Maintain comprehensive systems knowledge to support normal operations, special events, and demonstrations
• Assist with the creation and implementation of ops procedures and PM documentation
• Assist with operator selection/hiring
• Perform on-the-job training for venue operators

System maintenance and problem resolution

• Coordinate operators and work with other venue departments to ensure venue presentation systems are in a constant state of readiness
• Coordinate system upgrades, hardware installations, and technology transitions
• Coordinate and track resolution of issues across all presentation systems

THE PERSON

You are an affable, solutions-oriented person who is unafraid to get your hands dirty. You have years of experience with a variety of high-end performance technologies and you know your way around Windows PCs and networks.  We expect our team members to be versatile and constantly step up to tackle unique challenges.

Pivotal Experience, Expertise & Personal Characteristics:

• Understanding AVL technologies and IT systems on a technical level
• Awareness of the latest trends, hardware, and features in AV equipment
• High proficiency working with Windows OS and Windows PC technology, including networking fundamentals
• Expertise in processing, control, routing, and audio/video/lighting signal flow
• Posses high level team leadership and essential management skills
• Excellent communication and presentation/public speaking skills
• Must be highly organized, proactive, and collaborative
• You’re not afraid of an open, candid, and respectful work environment
• You are flexible and agile in order to meet quick turnarounds and hard deadlines

Bonus Experience:

• Engineering experience in one or more of the following: Audio, Broadcast, Lighting, IT, Parks and Attractions, performance venues
• Streaming and IP Video workflows
• Certifications (e.g. Q-SYS, Dante, ETC, CIT/IST, CTS, Crestron, Cisco)
• Interest in Astronomy and/or related sciences

Work Environment:

• Cosm venues host high energy events, including live performances
• Our venues leverage multiple immersive LED displays, driven by advanced hardware and software systems
• Our venues will be open daily, with a full schedule of events from morning to night
