JOB SUMMARY

The AVP Agency Business Manager is responsible for the overall business strategy and management of the company's agency. This role will focus on the oversight of the profit & loss which includes growth strategy, go to market model and business performance measurement. This position will be responsible for ensuring the agency is meeting business performance objectives, managing financial results, achieving growth objectives and maintaining an operational model that is designed for long-term, profitable growth.

  • Actively participate in the development of the strategic plan for the agency which includes growth projections, sales forecasting, marketing plan, operating budget and financial objectives. Actively participate in executive leadership discussions including future strategies, objectives and plans.
  • Develop, manage and report on key business performance measurements which includes sales forecasting, performance reporting, financial management and sales mix management.
  • Run the business operations in support of the agency including sales team (appointment management, expense reports, etc.), sales support, agency administration (carrier processing, financial management), facilities management for locations outside the home office and other related items
  • Oversee the management of the agent experience including sourcing and recruiting, licensing and contracting, sales support, commission payments, reporting, onboarding, training, reconciliations and other related items.
  • Collaborating with corporate services including technology, human resources, project management, legal and compliance and other departments as needed to ensure the agency's requests and needs are fulfilled.
  • Approve the go to market model that defines the market, geographic, product and carrier focus of the enterprise.
  • Maintain organizational staffing which includes structure alignment, resource capacity management, and collaborating with human resources for recruitment, training and development of non-agent staff.
  • Manage direct reports including overseeing workflow, communicate company goals and policies, provides feedback, foster a positive work environment, and promote employee development. Responsible for performance of the team including training, hiring and performance management.

  • Advanced knowledge of the principles, processes and practices related to running an insurance sales agency including strategic planning, growth strategies, business operations and other related items.

  • Strong analytic, critical thinking, financial acumen and relationship building skills with demonstrated success working in cross-functional collaborative teams.
  • High ability to solve problems and work under pressure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field. Combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.


Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience including leading and mentoring a team and management of profit & loss results.
  • Experience in the insurance industry and/or with agency leadership experience a plus.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Type: Throughout the United States
  • Percentage: 10-20%
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's license and be an insurable driver under company's corporate auto policy to travel to agencies and events.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily works in an office environment (or in-home office) performing work that is sedentary which involves remaining stationary and working on a computer for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to review, assess, and/or analyze data and figures by viewing a computer screen, including extensive reading.
  • Regularly communicates with others in-person, via video conferencing, electronically (including email), or by phone to exchange accurate information.
