Role/Responsibilities

This is an exciting and challenging senior role where you will serve as an Assistant Vice President - Analyst covering a portfolio of project and infrastructure finance issuers with responsibility for ensuring rating accuracy, offering insightful credit analysis for new and existing issuers, and publishing timely research on a range of project and infrastructure finance credit-related topics. As an AVP-Analyst, you will be expected to lead issuer meetings, present your views to rating committees, interact with investors and intermediaries, and publish timely, topical research on events and issues affecting the global infrastructure and project finance sectors. As such, this opportunity involves having an good working knowledge of the Project Finance and Infrastructure sectors. You will also be expected to serve as a mentor and as a resource for junior analysts and associate analysts.

All duties will be performed with minimal supervision and guidance from the team leader and managing director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively monitor a portfolio of project finance and infrastructure issuers, covering a range of infrastructure classes, including power, renewables, energy transportation, and social infrastructure. Maintain a high degree of rating accuracy of assigned infrastructure and project finance portfolio.
  • Recommend ratings for new transactions for a variety of issuers and security types. Review and assess the credit considerations of complex commercial contractual arrangements which serve as the basis for most Project Finance transactions and assess transactions with demand risk and contractual risk models.
  • Portfolio will include project finance and municipal infrastructure issuers. Prepare and present detailed credit analysis of the individual issuers covering management strategy, construction risk, operations, competitive environment, business risk and capital structure.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of Moody's methodologies
  • Manage assigned issuer relationships with a high level of professionalism and engagement, including relationships with intermediaries
  • Publish high quality written credit research for issuers on a timely and regular basis and write more detailed industry research, as needed.
  • Participate in outreach strategies with investors, intermediaries, issuers, regulators, and other third parties, including helping to develop and deliver thought leading presentations on credit topics affecting the infrastructure sector.
  • Mentor junior members of the analytic team and be a resource for information from the junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a closely related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible corporate finance or credit ratings related experience including analyzing project finance and infrastructure transactions, government owned enterprises, or global corporate infrastructure or industrial companies.
  • Working knowledge of and experience working in the project finance and infrastructure market
  • Full term of experience must include the following: conducting complex financial analyses and applying knowledge of cash-flow lending techniques; evaluating complex commercial contractual arrangements and analyzing complex legal organizational structures, as well as evaluating new technologies affecting infrastructure; covering government owned enterprises or sub-sovereign issuers and evaluating financial statements.
  • Strong quantitative aptitude, proven analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Sound judgment and capability of developing independent opinions and defending views
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing customer relationships

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $ [ 155,400 ] to $ [ 225,300 ], depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position in New York. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
