Role Summary/Purpose:

If so, consider joining Synchrony's world-class creative organization as our new AVP, Content Strategist. The AVP is responsible for helping to execute content strategy by translating product features into memorable, client-focused stories that drive home key selling points and benefits. The role works closely with the VP, Content Strategy and internal business partners to draw out key ideas and features, then craft stories to help our internal agency write compelling marketing copy for a variety of channels, including web, email, banners, social and print.

We're proud to offer you choice and flexibility. You have the option to be remote, and work from home, or come into one of our offices. You may be occasionally requested to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Help audit, reconcile and synthesize information around products, services and customer experience and compiling that into high level business strategies.
  • Develop targeted synopsis as it relates to key product benefits, value propositions and positioning that help form marketing and creative strategies.
  • Partner with VP, Content Strategy and creative teams to make sure messaging and storytelling hits the marketing strategy, and is accurate, targeted and concise.
  • Produce engaging and relevant stories, by connecting the dots between strategy, data, media, creative, and development.
  • Participate in concepting and brainstorming
  • Conduct internal and external client analyses on a variety of projects large and small
  • Help deliver content strategy across all lines of business.
  • Adapt concepts and content to all channels, keeping in mind all deliverables as well as full customer journey when creating a content strategy and implementation plan and keeping all messaging consistent.
  • Understand and make use of all available data, analytics and market research.
  • Use content to drive reach, reputation and revenue for clients on a variety of digital platforms (blogs, websites, social media) and traditional outlets (PR, printed newsletters, etc.)
  • Help provide strategic support and guidance to copywriting team.
  • Write copy as needed to help illustrate strategy or idea.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED and 8+ years' experience in marketing, creative business or agency
  • 5+ years of experience in content marketing with a focus on strategy
  • Extensive experience creating content for social media, digital advertising, websites, web applications and mobile apps.
  • Portfolio and/or writing samples/case studies required with application

  • Working knowledge of design, brand development and overall creative process
  • Solid copywriting background (marketing/brand/advertising copy)
  • Familiar with ideating and building customer personas, customer journeys, experience maps, communication cadence planning, messaging matrixes, and journey analysis
  • Able to manage a high volume of projects with constantly changing deadlines
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, problem solve and work independently
  • Maintains a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning and organizational skills
  • Team player, flexible and fast thinker, especially during critical or stressful times
  • The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your manager and clients
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • High-level thinking coupled with attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • A solid understanding of CX, UX and SEO
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Grade/Level: 11

The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Some positions are bonus eligible.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
