Target Range:

$100,000.00/Yr. - $140,000.00/Yr.

Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Cash Bonus Target: 10%

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Restricted Stock Units Bonus Target: 10%

These discretionary target bonuses may be awarded semi-annually based upon your achievement of performance goals and targets.

About This Job

As an AVP, Data Scientist at Axos, you will be at the forefront of leveraging advanced data science and modeling techniques to drive strategic decision-making and optimize the performance of retail loan portfolios.

  • Lead the development and refinement of sophisticated underwriting models and evaluation rules to streamline the loan origination process and enhance portfolio risk management.
  • Act as the owner of retail data, conducting in-depth analyses to identify patterns and behaviors in loan performance, and proactively addressing areas of concern or opportunity.
  • Develop and implement advanced segmentation strategies to categorize large populations of loan applicants based on underlying characteristics, such as credit scores, financial profiles, and industry sectors.
  • Utilize predictive modeling and machine learning algorithms to analyze customer profiles, credit scores, and financial data, identifying trends and patterns that inform automated loan approval decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with the deal team and underwriters to translate data insights into actionable underwriting strategies and credit risk assessments, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and maintain reporting dashboards using advanced data visualization tools such as Tableau, providing stakeholders with real-time visibility into portfolio performance metrics, including delinquency trends, funding ratios, and pricing dynamics.
  • Serve as a key liaison between underwriting and business stakeholders, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and communication to bridge the gap between data-driven insights and strategic decision-making.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members in data analysis techniques, modeling best practices, and stakeholder engagement strategies, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
