Job Description
Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Financial Analytics will lead strategic financial impact analysis used to drive critical business decisions within the collections function. The position will require leveraging robust internal and external data across SYF (both pre and post charge-off) to determine risks and opportunities, as well as applying cross functional process knowledge to understand and communicate these risks and opportunities. The position will also investigate the root causes of loss trends and assist with loss forecasting.
Our team resides within the Collections function with Synchrony, and partners closely with the Credit Reserves team, Finance, and Client management teams to develop and share Loss Forecasts and financial analysis of collections changes.

This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for analyzing and understanding the financial and operational impacts analysis for key initiatives and strategy changes including performance tracking and management.
- Leverage both internal and external data across SYF pre and post charge-off to understand business performance trends, drivers, and trends.
- Support cross-functional working group sessions to determine key SYF impacts.
- Present key analytical findings to the leadership team.
- Learn and incorporate new types of data from external sources and all customer touch points including alternative channels to improve customer contact and experience balanced with compliance and financial impact.
- Develop methodology and repeatable processes to drive accuracy and efficiency in quantifications.
- Develop training documents for repeatable processes
- Provide backup on loss forecasting deliverables.
- Ad-hoc analysis
- Understand, analyze and simulate regulatory / industry shifts and trends within the SYF framework to determine both risks and opportunities to key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Create reporting and analytical dashboards to deliver transparency into the financial performance drivers, drill downs and deep dives.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience in analytics or finance; in lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in analytics or finance.
- 2+ years of experience with advanced Excel.
- 2+ years of using SAS, SQL, Python, or R or equivalent data mining tools.
- 2+ years working with large data sets
- Proven ability to work independently and deliver on projects with limited supervision
- Experience in collaboration on cross-functional teams and leading projects/initiatives
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong analytical skills: ability to gather data, analyze and summarize it, and communicate results clearly and concisely
- Master's / MBA degree preferred in computer programming, statistics, mathematics, economics, finance, business, engineering, or other quantitative fields.
- 1+ years' experience with Python
- 3+ years of experience with SAS and SQL
- 3+ years of experience with advanced Excel
- 2+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and projects
- Experience with multiple Synchrony data warehouses
- Collaborative work experience
- Presentation skills with a clear ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Quality, Process and Project Management experience
- Strong prioritization skills; experience handling multiple project streams simultaneously
- Process control and documentation skills
- Experience in financial quantifications/modeling
- Ability to solve problems creatively
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).

The salary range for this position is 65,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
