JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Partners with senior business leaders to create and drive human capital strategy for multiple functional areas or a large function. Prioritizes and sequences the development and deployment of human capital solutions to achieve maximum leverage and impact to CNA.
- Leads and develops the Human Resources function to become a high performing department that delivers solutions in a coordinated way and in line with enterprise strategy.
- Ensures effective strategic workforce planning across the enterprise. Makes significant contributions to talent pipeline and instills excellence in leadership across CNA.
- Expert user of data and business knowledge to identify trends and diagnose organizational issues. Leads the development and execution of organization effectiveness practices that generate increased company growth, people performance and company revenue.
- Develops comprehensive organizational design and change management strategies to guide the enterprise from current to future state.
- Conducts the most advanced types of HR discipline work, requiring complex judgement and advanced analytical thought, in order to develop innovative HR solutions.
- Coordinates business initiatives amongst multiple business stakeholders, develops the strategy for project execution, and leads projects with notable risk and difficulty.
- Expected to have a significant impact on overall HR business partner support model, as a result of influence and responsibilities of the role.
- Negotiates and influences at a high level with the organization's senior business leaders

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Strong business acumen, in-depth knowledge of the business and client group, and the ability to effectively implement HR strategies to support enterprise business goals.
- In-depth and comprehensive understanding of the insurance environment/market and competitors, and how all HR disciplines integrate with other functions of the organization and contributes to achieving the objectives of the company.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience coaching others to apply the principles and practices of organizational design/development/effectiveness/behavior with the ability to positively impact the structure, culture and effectiveness of the organization.
- Ability to collect and synthesize large quantities of quantitative and qualitative data. Ability to recognize trends and influence leaders based on data analysis.
- Extensive experience supporting organizational strategy by aligning the vision, mission and values of the organization with individuals' goals through the performance management platform.
- Ability to provide coaching and guidance to leaders on a variety of performance related situations or circumstances.
- Strong influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with customers, peers, subordinates and senior leadership.
- Strong communication and presentation skills both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate business and technical information clearly.
- Expert knowledge of the HR field including employment laws and regulations.
- Ability to project manage large, matrixed or cross-functional teams through the use of group dynamics while encouraging creativity and innovation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deal with and resolve complex, cross-functional or large scale issues while providing flexible solutions.
- Excellent program and project management, organizing and planning skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
Education & Experience
- Master's degree or equivalent experience with professional certifications preferred.
- Typically a minimum of ten years of related work experience with demonstrated proficiency in required HR skills and abilities.
