General Summary:Unum’s Dedicated Legal Resource (DLR) team seeks an attorney who is solution-oriented, consultative in approach, knowledgeable about life, health, disability and HIPAA accepted insurance products, familiar with federal and state laws that impact our products and services and is able to distill, summarize and communicate complex information effectively and efficiently to business partners and legal colleagues.
As Assistant Vice President & Counsel, you will be part of the team responsible for providing primary legal counsel to the Unum and Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company Benefits Operations teams in all U.S. sites and on all product lines.
As AVP & Counsel, you will be a central component of the DLR team. In this role, you will act as an advisor to Benefit Operations staff and leadership on policy related questions, issues and trends. You will also work with colleagues in a variety of functions across the enterprise. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of Unum’s business, enhance legal and leadership skills, and develop an industry-wide perspective. As an AVP & Counsel, you are required to act with the highest ethical standards and are responsible for staying current on the external environment and changes to the law impacting our businesses.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$133,500.00-$261,000.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
