Job Description

F&G is hiring for a AVP, Marketing within our Life/Protection Segment. This position is accountable for driving overall marketing strategy and content for the Segment including how products, processes and support are presented to producers and consumers. The successful candidate should have proven marketing campaign experience, content marketing competency, an intermediate level of technical expertise across an array of insurance products with a specific emphasis on life insurance products. This role will partner with distribution leaders and interface effectively with other departments including, product pricing, product implementation, legal and compliance teams, and corporate and other segment marketing teams. This position will report to the VP, Market Strategy and will have supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Protection Management Committee to establish, develop and execute on a marketing strategy that supports long-term business objectives
  • Conceptualize content across mediums that bring our value propositions to life (case studies, competitive analysis, videos, etc); develop marketing campaigns that bring content together to deliver maximum impact.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of all life product collateral, including consumer brochures and agent/advisor only resources
  • Conduct ongoing review and assessment of existing product support materials to ensure effectiveness, timeliness, and appropriateness with recommendations for improvement
  • Invest in deep understanding of product value propositions and various distribution channels in order to create content that can positively impact the business and relationships between F&G and distribution
  • Consult on trainings, field communications and illustration changes—ensuring our distribution partners receive relevant information in a timely fashion that contributes to their success
  • Represent the Protection Marketing team at product-related brainstorming, strategy, and project management meetings, and on cross-functional work streams
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal business partners to collaboratively manage workflow between functional areas in order to more effectively achieve strategic objectives
  • In coordination with subject matter experts, develop go-to-market materials that are comprehensive, and precise in order to facilitate informed decision-making and drive successful product launches
  • Monitors and measures progress of prioritized initiatives
  • Advise on topics and guest speakers that are relevant to our segment, positioning F&G as a thought leader to our external audience
  • Leads Protection Marketing team through oversight of job expectations; planning and monitoring job results
  • Drives change management needed to implement new ways of working
  • Manage work of the team – responsible for team development, performance evaluations and career development

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required
  • 10+ years progressively more responsible experience in the financial services industry with a concentration on marketing life insurance products
  • Proven experience developing and driving coordinated marketing campaigns that drive increased company and brand awareness and support sales growth
  • Experience marketing to insurance agents and end consumers required
  • Strong understanding of the various business functions within a life insurance and annuity manufacturer required
  • Working knowledge of the life insurance and annuity marketplace required
  • Thought leadership—idea generation and problem-solving approaches that result in beneficial impact to business; handle complex decisions effectively
  • Excellent communication skills—listening, writing, speaking, visual presentations, discernment and prioritization
  • Creative and inquisitive thinker
  • Understanding of the marketing and sales technology landscape and capabilities, along with marketing workflow and project management tools

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership skills working within a multi-functional financial services environment to develop and deliver marketing collateral that meets legal and compliance standards and fulfills needs for distribution partners to sell our products
  • Aptitude to learn key product capabilities and incorporate into effective marketing approaches
  • Must have excellent listening skills and discernment to appropriately prioritize a wide variety of requests submitted for marketing support, often with short timelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to collaborate with a wide range of teams and take direction from a number of individuals at the same time based on project demand
  • Ability to lead and excel in a fast-paced production environment while addressing multiple projects and responsibilities
  • Unconditional integrity and commitment to delivering accurate information on schedule
  • Appropriate priority setting, resource assessment, and delivery management
  • Heavy computer use and sitting for long periods of time
