General Summary:

The incumbent will work closely with leadership and management stakeholders to prioritize and align business opportunities with strategic goals of the company and within internal business units and then deliver on those opportunities via targeted projects. This individual is expected to lead, execute, and implement change and shares ownership with senior leadership for achieving goals and objectives for these projects. This role requires operational management expertise, and a deep understanding of the digital customer experience, service roles and business process. The individual in this role is expected to lead strategically and implement change tactically and broadly.

Accountable for leading and delivering strategic and transformational projects with the goals of driving CSAT/BSAT, operational efficiency and supporting growth through sales and persistency improvements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver measurable and transformative business and operational strategy solutions.
  • Interact and develop strong relationships with internal business areas as well as external partners to accomplish the goals of the area and support assigned area initiatives. Leverage partnerships to find digital resolutions and make it easy for customers and brokers to do business with Unum.
  • Establish strong, effective, and collaborative partnerships with key business area leaders, Sales teams, and subject matter experts to identify specific business opportunities or to address business needs or problems and help build effective solutions.
  • Develop and drive a strategy for a repeatable process for the LIMRA standards across multiple business units, to accomplish successful integration, deployment, and adoption.
  • Drive and promote collaboration across the organization (Core and Large Case) to secure funding and operations resources to provide expected levels of service for LIMRA LDEx API connected partners.
  • Identify, drive, and operationalize repeatable processes that shift from IT to the Integration team to enable customers to connect to digital solutions with ease.
  • Ensure frictionless and successful integration of Unum's technology, including adoption of the LDEx standards, with third-party partners
  • Collaborate with external 3rd party platforms, Change and Digital Transformation Office (DTO), Group Operations and other internal teams to map existing and future processes and document platform, partner, and customer-specific approaches.
  • Drive and support development of Platform Management strategy and related strategic priorities by identifying and evaluating complex business issues with a focus on building relevant diagnostic information, generating strategic insights, and putting forward recommended actions to address.
  • Own and execute strategy sessions designed to identify, develop, and deploy capabilities that drive sales growth and move the relationship from a partnership to an alliance.
  • Influence technology adoption through collaboration with colleagues in Partner Management, by tracking, and reporting on the operational performance of technology partners (e.g., service levels, data quality, responsiveness, system limitations), identifying areas of concern, developing correction strategies, and negotiating shared actions to drive improvement.
  • Motivate, coach, establish goals, and provide performance management to a team of Partner Integration Managers to ensure excellent and effective customer service to our Strategic and Growth Partners.
  • Drive activities and cost benefit analysis to guide Sales partners towards profitable sales growth and results and provide ongoing updates to Sr Leadership Team.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive issues, trends, and opportunities in the marketplace
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of 10+ years' experience in the group insurance or similar industry preferred
  • Knowledge of the insurance marketplace and emerging trends, experience with the LIMRA committee and/or understanding of the LIMRA standards preferred
  • Understanding group benefits, internal systems, and operational workflows
  • Proven credibility with field teams and HR/Ben Tech firms
  • Proven leadership skills including the ability to effectively partner, problem solve, and influence and lead others
  • Deep understanding of and experience with the service needs of agents, brokers and customers across all size segments and product lines.
  • Proven ability to delivery business results by driving operational change and the ability to develop and promote a series of recommendations based on qualitative research and/or data-supported results
  • Proven strategic mindset with ability to translate into practical actions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Create and drive change management processes to encourage growth, development of new skillsets and adoption to new opportunities within the team as well as across the organization (operationalize LIMRA standards)
  • Strong executive presence and collaborative attitude; effective working from front-line to senior management internally and customers, brokers, and key partners externally
  • Proficient in cultivating a strong personal network across an organization.
  • Demonstrated consultative ability, solution-oriented and able to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functionally, achieving results despite organizational barriers
  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$114,100.00-$205,400.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
