Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Product Marketing plays a strategic role in in the Go-to-Market Team, defining industry and client-centric product messaging and positioning to drive go-to-market strategies, enable our sales teams, and create content that helps drive clarity and comprehension of the value of Synchrony's products and capabilities. You are responsible for driving the usage and adoption of our products, services and capabilities as well as communicating feedback from the field that informs future product enhancements.
In this role, you will be responsible for translating enterprise product marketing strategies into industry and client marketing strategies, and executing on those strategies from the beginning of a project to its successful completion. Projects may include creating relevant, credible and differentiated messaging for our products, charting the customer journey and decision-making criteria as well as accountability for the platform product marketing workstream in a product's commercialization. Strong communication & relationship-building skills, an attention to detail and eye for quality are critical to your success, along with an ability to convey how the product value propositions meet the needs of our clients and providers.
You will work cross-functionally with platform leaders, other GTM teams, product managers and sales channels, leveraging strong influencing skills. You should be obsessed with developing and tracking performance metrics to assess program effectiveness.
For this role, you must be a creative and quantitative thinker. You should be familiar with various product marketing techniques also be comfortable learning about and communicating the benefits of new technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Positioning - Take the foundational messaging developed by the Enterprise Product Marketing team and adapt into platform messaging. Cross-functional partnership with product management, platform & client teams, industry marketing, cardholder marketing, operations and sales to develop product positioning and messaging that resonates with the target audiences
- Sales enablement - communicate the value proposition of the products to the sales team and assist in the development of platform-specific sales tools that support the selling process
- Product launch - assist the platforms in developing marketing activation plans based on existing foundational materials. Help platforms plan for new products, services and capabilities and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan & product commercialization's
- Market intelligence -be the expert on your competition to ensure that marketing articulates a differentiated, compelling value proposition
- Marketing Execution - develop a product marketing plan, including key activities and budgets to support driving the awareness and adoption of our products and capabilities
- Analysis & optimization - assess marketing effectiveness on an ongoing basis, and provide the business with customer feedback
- Develop platform internal tools and sales collateral for effective B2B and B2B2C engagement
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree OR in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma and 9+ years of marketing experience in the credit card or financial services industry
- Minimum of 5 years of marketing experience to include:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience partnering with creative agencies and creating marketing communications to launch new products and capabilities
- Prior B2B and B2B2C marketing experience
- Strong analytics background needed to set strategy and measure performance
Desired Characteristics:
- Business-to-business marketing experience
- Collaborative team player with ability to influence across all levels of internal and external organizations
- Experience in the Financial Services industry
- Sales experience a plus but not required.
- Strong working knowledge of multi-channel marketing campaigns
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).

The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 150,000.00 USD Annual
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
Grade/Level: 11
