AVP, Strategic Communications
Job Description
The Assistant Vice President for Strategic Communications will play an essential role in telling this exciting story. They will work closely with our Product, Business Development and Public Policy teams to understand, from the earliest planning stages through deployment and evolution, the multi-dimensional impact of our products and services on customers, policymakers and individual healthcare consumers. They will develop messaging and strategies that explain our vision for the future of healthcare in a way that is meaningful to our target audiences and inspirational to our employees.
The ideal candidate will:
- Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies and plans for NCQA, its programs, initiatives and products, so that information is disseminated to the right audiences, in the right form, at the right time.
- Oversee and develop NCQA's communications channels, including Quality Matters, the NCQA blog, issue briefs, reports, white papers, podcasts, blogs, videos, webinars and events.
- Serve as chief advisor to NCQA leaders, on all external strategic communications. Cultivate strategies and opportunities for leadership to contribute to national media opportunities. Help lead and build the external engagement and executive communication of NCQA's President and other senior leaders.
- Lead and manage the communications team. Provide mentorship and creative direction, while developing new initiatives and redesigning or repurposing existing initiatives.
- Partner with the Marketing team to create, design, and implement marketing and promotion strategies to best represent NCQA through diverse channels, in order to engage current and prospective customers.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to organize and promote high profile events that generate interest in NCQA products and services. Promote a broader understanding of NCQA's mission and work.
- Convene policy-relevant seminars and workshops and high-visibility public gatherings that attract leaders from the policy, business, academic, and advocacy communities.
- Support government affairs activities to ensure NCQA's efforts helps inform relevant public policy decision-making.
- Develop and implement NCQA's crisis communications, preparedness, and response efforts, working closely with internal stakeholders and leadership.
- Enhance existing and develop new benchmarks to evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies and campaigns.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will also serve as a spokesperson for NCQA with digital and print media. They will also deploy subject matter experts and NCQA leadership strategically to advance our Sales, Marketing, and Public Policy objectives. They will identify and maximize opportunities for thought leadership activities. They will lead the Events staff in hosting two major events annually - Quality Talks in the spring and the Healthcare Innovation Summit in the fall - and assist them in meeting ambitious attendance and revenue goals.
To do so, they will need to have a strong background in healthcare communications, including 10+ years' experience with health plans, health systems, health IT entities or public policy or government organizations focused on healthcare. They will have demonstrated experience managing organization-wide communications and coordinating messaging to meet sales targets. They will be comfortable speaking on behalf of a large, complicated organization in terms that are digestible and relatable to varying audiences.
