POSITION PURPOSE:

The AVP, Strategy Solutions will drive the growth of CIM’s infrastructure (“infra”) and climate businesses by coordinating infra/climate related marketing initiatives, providing fund updates and presentations to existing and prospective investors and co-investors, and contributing to investor-specific product structuring and investor negotiations by working closely with Portfolio Oversight (“PO”), Investments, legal, tax, compliance, and CIM sales teams, etc.


Provide feedback on and assist with all marketing content and materials used in fundraising or marketing of infrastructure and climate strategies. Contribute to investor correspondences relating to the open/active infra and climate strategies in fundraising or in product development, excluding regular/quarterly fund reporting materials prepared by PO to existing LPs. Provide feedback on draft RFP/DDQ submissions to consultants or LPs relating to infrastructure and/or climate strategies prior to distribution by relevant relationship managers or sales teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with and coordinate amongst various sales teams to ensure a diversity in LP type and geography (institutional, private wealth, wirehouses, etc.) for the infra and climate strategies across CIM’s partner and co-investor relations department.
  • Support existing relationships with key infrastructure and climate strategy clients and prospects in partnership with relevant relationship managers from sales teams, as applicable. Serve as an additional resource for sales teams' meetings in Los Angeles, or on the road, as needed.
  • Support IPG/institutional coverage team’s dialogue and relationships with key research consultants covering infrastructure and climate within the key institutional investor consultancies globally ensuring major consultants are knowledgeable of strategies and offerings.
  • Support relationships with relevant external placement agents involved in infrastructure and climate fundraising and coordinate external fundraising events, roadshows, meetings, etc.
  • Work closely with PO to ensure that fund and co-investment marketing materials and offering terms are competitive and best in class. Conduct ongoing market research to ensure active and/or future offerings are competitive with market terms and investor expectations. Maintain an active peer/competitor group analysis for all infrastructure and climate strategies and keep sales teams apprised of current competitive landscape for applicable offerings.
  • Coordinate and contribute to regular update calls and meetings (either in person, on-site or remotely) with existing investors with involvement from PO/Investments, as needed.
  • Contribute to development of infra and climate strategies’ presentation at CIM’s annual investor meeting. Support PO and Investments with preparation of materials as needed.
  • Maintain relationships with key industry related publications and stakeholders (e.g. conference organizers, infrastructure journalists, editors, publications, etc). Attend various infrastructure and climate investor conferences on behalf of CIM, alongside appropriate sales team members.
  • Facilitate infrastructure and climate industry related events (conference dinners, presentations, etc.), content generation (thought leadership, white papers, sponsor op-eds), etc. in partnership with PO, sales teams, PR, etc.
  • Aid in training new team members on CIM’s Infrastructure and Climate strategies, as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (including certification, licenses, etc.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field required, MBA preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in private equity and/or infrastructure funds management, investment banking, private market consulting or related field.
  • Ideal candidate will have direct experience in Investments or Client Service / Investor Relations with an established network of institutional contacts
  • Demonstrated competence with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

ABOUT YOU:

  • Deep knowledge of ESG investment approaches/strong understanding of financial markets, products and research methodologies
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with ease and manage competing interests to deliver strategic projects efficiently and effectively, compromising where needed
  • Experience working with clients in the financial services industry or in a strategic consulting role

Actual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required.


At CIM, base pay is one part of the total compensation package. This role is eligible for bonus pay in addition to base salary. The anticipated base salary range for the position in Los Angeles is $135,000 - $185,000.
