The role

The G-Research Infrastructure group is looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer to join its expanding global team in Dallas.

As an AWS Cloud Engineer, you'll primarily work on supporting, maintaining and securing our public cloud footprint in AWS. You will help to design, build and support the existing cloud platform and help drive its adoption and expansion, while also collaborating with Linux Engineers, Software Engineers, Security and other Infrastructure teams.

There is a large focus on applying automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), alongside the use of CI/CD tools and methodologies in all of our engineering work. We use open-source tooling and best practices to increase the pace of delivery, and have embedded a continuous improvement culture and philosophy across the organisation.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Designing, deploying and maintaining a highly scalable and secure cloud platform
• Ensuring workloads running on the public cloud platform are deployed optimally
• Recommending and implementing continuous improvements to the cloud platform
• Ensuring platforms are configured and maintained from code
• Running performance diagnostics and tuning of the entire stack
• Security-hardening the platforms and supporting systems
• Providing platform support

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• A background in running, maintaining and securing hybrid AWS platforms, including AWS Landing Zone
• Experience working in a platform team that provides AWS access to application teams
• Knowledge of AWS concepts and services, including IAM (including Identity Centre), AWS Organisations, VPC networking, Serverless and End User Compute (EC2 and AWS Workspaces)
• Experience with Terraform, Vault and/or Ansible
• Linux experience and the ability to troubleshoot
• Coding/scripting ability, ideally in Python
• Understanding of CI/CD and/or VCS tools, such as Jenkins and Github
• Knowledge of container technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes

An AWS Solutions Architect - Associate, or AWS Developer Associate certification would be beneficial.
