Job Description:
BAAM's largest line of business makes LP investments in hedge funds. These investments span the gamut of asset classes and hedge fund strategies. The Equity Strategy Team makes allocation decisions for Long-Short Equity, Activism and Event-Driven Equity. This role offers the opportunity to analyze, evaluate, and engage with global hedge fund managers, as well as interface with colleagues across the globe. Our investment process combines the public market and financial analysis characteristic of hedge fund investing with the strategic thinking of private equity. This position involves a two-year commitment.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Working with the team to source and perform due diligence on prospective hedge fund investments within the Equity space.
- Monitoring existing hedge fund relationships, which includes regular conversations with different levels of contacts at the firm, tracking key positions, themes and exposures in the portfolio, assessing the impact of any organizational changes, and continuously challenging the validity of BAAM's investment thesis.
- Thinking critically about how various market factors impact Equity strategies broadly and making recommendations regarding different styles of investing, given the current environment and future expectations.
- Thinking creatively about ways to improve the team's existing due diligence process, helping ensure quality, consistency and thoroughness in their approach.
- Qualitatively and quantitatively analyze hedge fund strategies and individual managers
- Prepare manager investment recommendations, detailed data analyses, portfolio models and in-depth commentary.
- Model various investment strategies, exposures, and their risks.
Qualifications:
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition to strong analytical and quantitative skills, the successful candidate should have:
- Strong communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write effectively
- A desire to work in a team environment
- Strong financial modeling skills and the ability to deconstruct a hedge fund's historic returns
- A passion for equity markets, and an understanding of different approaches within the asset class
- An ability to manage ad hoc projects independently and to completion
- 1+ years of relevant work experience

Expected annual base salary range:
$100,000 - $110,000
Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
