  • At Grata, we are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with backend development experience to join our newly implemented Search squad. We are looking for someone who is excited about building a cutting edge private company search engine. With strong engineering knowhow, they will push our search technology forward and drive even more value for our enterprise users. As a Search Engineer, you will work across the Search team and Grata team as a whole to define and deliver high-impact search infrastructure improvements.

  About the Role:

  • Drive technical implementation of our search and data processing infrastructure
  • Collaborate with ML+NLP researchers to build new search methods, pipelines, and infrastructure
  • Scale search pipelines to billions of documents that drive millions of searches
  • Experiment with end to end improvements from new search interfaces to data storage designs
  • Deploy and tune search algorithms, ranking systems, evaluation methods
  • Expand and scale our search systems and data model
  • Collaborate with other teams across Grata to steward a coordinated strategy in a high growth environment
  • Ship well designed, tested production code

  About You:

  • 1-3 years of experience, preferably with exposure developing web based APIs, developing large scale data pipelines and scalable infrastructure
  • Experience with search technologies like Elasticsearch, Lucene, and Solr a strong plus
  • Previous experience or an interest in working with NLP/ML engineers in designing and implementing interactive query-driven search engine
  • Experience with Python, Django, Postgres, AWS, CI/CD, Git
  • Excited to be a part of an inclusive culture
  • NYC based, we have a flexible hybrid model where we work in-office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

Actual compensation packages at the time of offers are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to: what you’d like to be paid, the skills/experience you bring and any role-dependent factors such as software expertise, what similar jobs pay in the NYC area, and our commitment to equal pay for equal work among those you’ll be working with. The compensation range for this role is targeted at $100,000-$140,000, plus equity.
