Backend Engineer

We are seeking a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to join our engineering team. You’ll play a key role in creating clear and performant APIs to power our user experience. You will also expand our system integrations to enable our customers to accomplish their reporting and regulatory goals. Your work will with a cross functional team to deliver working software in a collaborative environment.

About the Role

As a Backend Engineer at SINAI, you will design, implement, and maintain the core services and APIs that power our platform. You’ll play a key role in building scalable, high-performance backend systems to support customer-facing features. You’ll collaborate closely with Fullstack Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers, and other team members to solve customer challenges.

In this fast-paced, dynamic environment, you’ll balance creative design with strategic thinking, helping shape products that enable our customers to achieve their decarbonization goals.

Job Details

Full-time position

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services that power SINAI's customer-facing platform
• Architect and build APIs and data pipelines using a modern TypeScript and Apollo GraphQL technology stack
• Write clean, reusable, and extensible backend code, following test-driven development and best practices
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Fullstack Engineers to design systems that meet product requirements and business needs
• Ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability by optimizing backend systems and resolving bottlenecks
• Contribute to technical leadership across the Engineering team and provide mentorship to other engineers
  

Skills and Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer or in a backend focused role
• Strong experience writing backend software with tools like Node.js, TypeScript, and Relational Databases(e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Production experience designing and implementing APIs using GraphQL or REST
• Experience building scalable, reliable systems, with a strong understanding of performance optimization
• Familiarity with modern software development practices, such as CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to building software
• Written and verbal proficiency in the English language
• Familiarity with Observability tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, or similar
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka)

Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience building SaaS platforms and working with AWS or a similar cloud provider
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions such as Terraform
• Experience developing public APIs
• Experience working with LLMs or AI models for data extraction or processing
  

Salary $130,000 - $175,000 USD

The offered salary or salary range is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and location of the position.
