Backend Engineer, Employee Experience

The Employee Experience team owns the product which helps our customers to navigate the workday seamlessly on their mobile device. Our goal is to bring people in the workplace a whole new experience from scheduling a working day, booking desks and meeting rooms, and so many new features waiting to be implemented.

As the backend engineer on this team, you will not only help to deliver the features with the best experience to our daily users, but also advocate for providing some great solutions to push the product forward. A successful engineer in this role feels pride in their work, likes learning new technologies and practices. In a cross-functional team, you will work closely with mobile and frontend engineers and share knowledge between different domains and grow together. On the other hand, along with all other engineering teams at Envoy. You will also work with other external backend engineers to understand the entire Envoy engineering ecosystem.

This is not a remote position. The ideal candidate will need to be onsite & able to participate in hybrid work.

• Work with other engineers, designers, and product managers to develop excellent product experiences
• Help us to scale the Envoy mobile app’s usage to tens of thousands of customers
• Design core backend software components to support the Envoy mobile application and web dashboard
• Conduct technical design and code reviews, share your knowledge and experience organization wide
• Deliver high-quality code to reinforce the great mobile client experiences

• 5+ years experience with server-side Ruby or Kotlin 
• 1+ year experience with Graphql
• Experience with Postgres or similar relational databases
• Enjoy working on products that are used every day by people around the world
• Are comfortable with ambiguity and can leverage your experience to make rock-solid engineering and product decisions 
• Appreciate a fast-paced environment that values iteration

• Have designed large scale, performant server applications 
• Appreciate good API design and have authored APIs that are exposed to external developers
• Have worked with legacy systems and are adept at implementing quick, meaningful improvements
