Backend Engineer II

As a Backend Engineer II, you can expect to own and solve complex problems dealing with all aspect of the Flexcar software pipeline. As we scale across the globe, we need your help building distributed software systems, powered by AWS and best-in-class libraries, components, and platforms. 

What you’ll do? 

• Design, implement and deploy services and APIs that enable key business objectives. 
• Work collaboratively with product designers, product managers and other engineers to devise innovative and frugal solutions. 
• Dive deep to understand technical and product complexities, simplify into straightforward and easy to maintain software. 
• Don’t settle for good enough, share and develop best practices with your team and partners. 
• Act as a customer advocate and as a leader in everything you do. 

What drives success for this role:

• 2+ years of production experience working with Java. Experience in a fast-paced commercial environment is a plus.
• Exposure within Microservices, SQL/NoSQL, RESTful endpoints.
• Understanding of cloud-based architecture and best practices, would be preferred.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Docker/Kubernetes, and AWS Cloud a plus.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, SDLC, Testing best practices in an agile environment.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent.

Tech Stack:

• Web services written in JVM languages (Java, Groovy, Kotlin, Scala) and/or Ruby
• Framework's: Spring/Boot, Hibernate
• Databases: (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Oracle, Apollo, GraphQL, Kafka)
• Kubernetes/Docker
• AWS (e.g., KMS, Parameter Store, S3, RDS, EKS, ECR)
• Messaging systems (e.g. RabbitMQ)
