Backend Engineer (Infrastructure team)

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Observability Team. In this role you will develop and maintain an observability platform that enhances our ability to monitor and improve the performance and scalability of our health and fitness applications. This position is pivotal in helping the organization streamline monitoring practices across our technology portfolio.

What You Will Do:

• Design implement and deploy an observability platform using AWS serverless services such as Lambda API Gateway SQS SNS and CloudWatch.

• Develop infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform ensuring efficient management and scalability of our observability infrastructure.

• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment and updating of our platform components.

• Continuously evaluate and optimize the platform to ensure it meets the evolving needs of the business focusing on performance scalability and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align the observability platform with overall business objectives and technology strategies.

• Support development teams deploying and understanding their metrics logs and traces.

• Document architectures configurations and policies related to infrastructure.

• Participate in on-call rotation for infrastructure incident response.

• Recommend and implement new infrastructure solutions for security scalability and resilience.

Who We're Looking For:

• Someone with a strong background in cloud infrastructure particularly within AWS environments and proficient in infrastructure as code practices using Terraform.

• Proficient in programming especially in Python within cloud and serverless environments.

• Deep understanding and practical experience with observability and monitoring tools and practices (CloudWatch Grafana Prometheus Datadog Pagerduty etc.).

• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex technical challenges and deliver impactful solutions.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with teams across the organization.

Additional Skills (Nice to Have):

• Experience with databases like PostgreSQL OpenSearch Redis and ORM frameworks like SQLAlchemy.

• Familiarity with additional monitoring tools and practices that support high availability and performance.
