Backend Engineer Intern, Grafana Plug Ins (Remote, EMEA/US)

This is a 12 weeks contract position for the EU Timezone - we can't consider other time zones due to team setup.

Grafana is the de facto standard open-source dashboarding tool for visualizing and analyzing metrics. Since Grafana is open source, our user base ranges from finance firms on Wall Street to small beehive community groups. The most common use case for Grafana is infrastructure and application monitoring. Grafana helps companies gain insight into how their applications and users behave, enabling them to iterate and improve faster. This is an exciting opportunity to actively contribute to helping the Grafana Labs team build a product that enables our users to communicate with data and delight our users. You will also have the opportunity to help the team maintain and continue to build close links with our open-source community.

The Plugins Platform team aims at delivering the best developer experience for grafana plugin authors internally and externally. With more than 300 plugins in our Grafana catalog - plugins are a big part of our big tent story. We give our community the possibility to extend Grafana by adding capabilities that are not already present and unlock the power of their data.

We embrace experimentation, lean principles, and encourage everyone to share their ideas and perspectives.

As a Plugins Platform intern, you will work closely with the team to learn and contribute to our OSS solution and improve the developer experience of writing grafana plugins.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Learn about our ways of working and best practices when contributing to OSS
• Pair up with more experienced Grafanistas to deliver new and exciting features
• Review and discuss open pull requests to gain more insight
• Gain in depth knowledge of the Grafana tool stack and how we develop our SDK
• Collaborate with UX in designing usable and exciting solutions
• Implement your features with support from your colleagues
• Engage with the Grafana community and get feedback on your features

• You are comfortable working in a remote-first company; communication is key.

• You have interests and experience (via coursework or personal projects) in front-end development. We are a small team, working remotely, on a product that will be used by engineers all over the world – the ability to ask for help, do your research, and experiment with code is crucial.

• You enjoy being part of the community. Community is part of our core, and interacting with the community is a day-to-day thing for us; We answer Github discussions, review community PRs and investigate raised issues.
• You can communicate clearly in written and spoken English.

• We work with React as our framework, Typescript, Redux, and RxJS
• We use Storybook as a component library to enable ui consistency and make plugin development easier
• We use GoLang and gRPC in our backend

Internship Program Information:
