Backend Product Software Engineer, DocSend Platform

Role Description

As a Software Engineer on the DocSend Platform team you will play a key role in tackling the scalability challenges we face as DocSend rapidly grows. We own the foundation that enables DocSend to scale in a reliable and performant manner and work with Dropbox teams to leverage their infrastructure when beneficial. Technologies we work with include a Ruby on Rails web app running on Heroku with a PostgreSQL DB Redis background workers Elasticsearch and some AWS services like S3 and DynamoDB.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of features end-to-end

• Research architect implement and help drive innovative solutions

• Actively share knowledge and document insights to support continuous team improvement and collaboration

• Act as a mentor throughout the software development process

• Partner and collaborate with other functions and teams across both Dropbox and DocSend

Many teams at Dropbox run Services with on-call rotations which entails being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. If a team has an on-call rotation all engineers on the team are expected to participate in the rotation as part of their employment. Applicants are encouraged to ask for more details of the rotations to which the applicant is applying.

Requirements

• BS (or higher e.g. MS or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g. physics or mathematics) or equivalent technical experience

• 5+ years of software engineering experience

• Solid CS fundamentals with strong problem-solving skills

• Proven track record of shipping impactful features end-to-end

• Experience or interest in scalability performance reliability monitoring and observability

• Required: Ruby on Rails experience

• Contributions to open source projects or technical communities
