Job Summary:
As a Backend Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase at Commercial Bank in Digital Platform team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Lead the development of back-end systems and APIs
  • Design, develop, and maintain complex and scalable back-end systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize features and functionalities
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
  • Develop and maintain databases, APIs, and web servers
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications to ensure high-quality and optimal performance

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Strong knowledge of server-side languages (Java, Node.js, Go etc.) and at least one back-end framework (Springboot, Express etc.)
  • Experience with database technologies (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, MongoDB, etc.) and query languages (SQL, NoSQL)
  • Knowledge of web protocols and standards (HTTP, REST, gRPC etc.) and cloud native technologies such as EnvoyProxy
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership experience in a development team

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Jenkins, GitOps, Terraform, etc.)
  • Experience with GraphQL
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
