Purpose:

This role reports directly to the Deputy Director Bank Compliance and is responsible for assisting the Deputy Director with the development, maintenance and execution of appropriate Bank standards and effective internal controls relating to compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations applicable to a New Jersey-state chartered, FDIC insured, financial institution, including consumer protection laws and regulations.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation of laws and regulations, as well as industry best practices related to laws and regulations applicable to the Bank (Reg B, Reg E, TISA, TILA, etc.).
  • Assist in implementing changes in regulations or bank strategic plan/structure pertaining to bank’s regulatory environment.
  • Advise the business on the creation and assessment of operational compliance controls in response to identified issues and the launch of new or modified bank processes.
  • Assist in executing the Bank’s regulatory change management process.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels and use those relationships to strengthen the culture of compliance within the Bank. (i.e. Operations, Payments, Lending etc.)
  • Identify and assess compliance issues and weaknesses related the Bank’s controls/processes and propose potential solutions.
  • Assist in creating and updating policies and procedures related to bank compliance including assessing for current and new regulatory requirements, and implementing/remediating gaps in existing policies and procedures.
  • Analyze the results of testing, monitoring and/or audit reviews.
  • Report statuses of projects, initiatives, and issues to and escalates issues as necessary.
  • Assist with preparing for Internal Audit reviews, Compliance Testing reviews, and regulatory examinations and inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience in developing, maintaining, executing compliance controls, and understanding front line risk and control building.
  • Experience with or strong aptitude for banking laws and regulations, as well as industry best practices including, but not limited to, ECOA, EFTA, TLA, TISA and other banking institution related regulations.
  • Ability to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques; structure potential solutions; drive to resolution with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing large projects and competing priorities
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders with the ability to articulate problems and solutions.
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team oriented, organized.
  • Strong interest in technology and innovation. Prior fintech experience a plus.
  • CRCM, JD, and/or CPA a plus.
