Battery Cell Raw Materials Sourcing Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop regional strategies for localizing battery cell raw materials in NA (USA, Mexico, Canada) to align with business growth plan and generate cost-outcome result.
• Develop supply base in NA or FTA, including but not limited to supplier sourcing, onboarding, and price negotiation, and improve quality and on time delivery service performance.
• Initiate, develop, and execute sourcing of strategic initiatives for battery cell raw materials (including but not limited to Lithium product, cathode, graphite, electrolyte, separator, copper foil, aluminum foil, cell can, chemical additives etc.), with alignment with regional business leaders and with the global materials category team.
• Be responsible for cost model of cell raw materials, optimization of supply chain layout (including NA, EU, South America, Japan, Korea and other FTA regions), establishment and analysis of cost benchmarks, and capacity analysis planning.
• Support/lead the management of the commodity through the APQP, PPAP, agile squad processes in region.
• Conduct Supplier Business Reviews and manage relationships with strategic suppliers on a regular basis.
• Be responsible for supplier performance review with a cross-functional team.
• Be responsible for purchasing contracts and order processing.
• Benchmark procurement processes to develop and implement best practices for the North America region.
• Build up SAP system for North America under the support of regional/HQ IT and supply chain.
• Manage relationships with internal customers and stakeholders to provide the best overall outcomes from the supply chain.

Required Qualifications: 

• More than 3 years of work experience, proficient in office software.
• Broad Purchasing Experience in automotive, Energy Storage, Cell, Cell Material, or other chemical industry. Familiar with ERP system like SAP or Oracle etc.
• Bachelor’s degree or above in automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, chemical materials, and related majors.
• Know Automotive Industry Standards like IATF16949 or VDA, understand APQP, PPAP
• Market knowledge of the supply base in North America (USA, Mexico, Canada), China and other FTA countries.
• Global sourcing experience and global strategic thinking and knowledge of global trade rules & regulations in import/export and global logistics, FTA, HS CODE etc.
• Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain globally.
• Skilled at contracts and knowledgeable of local tax regulations and local laws in USA.
• Ability to demonstrate effective negotiation styles and techniques.
• Strong coordination & collaboration ability with internal customers.
• More than 3 years of work experience, proficient in office software.
• Demonstrate strong self-learning ability within the new business environment and cultures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience within battery pack components, power electronics and other related electrification commodities is a plus.
• Excellent level of spoken and written English.
• Mandarin Chinese working experience is a plus.
