Battery Manufacturing Engineer

What You’ll Do

• Assist in the development of a high-volume battery production system, from early process feasibility studies to production at a greenfield site
• Provide Design For Manufacturing (DFM) input to Product Engineering to enhance manufacturability and cost
• Plan and execute process feasibility studies using formal Design Of Experiments (DOE) methods, analyze and report results to cross functional team
• Provide manufacturing feedback on mechanical stackup and analysis
• Support small scale buck and prototype builds
• Assist with the specification and design of manufacturing equipment, design tools and machine concepts in 3D CAD
• Document requirements for tooling and process capabilities and interfaces
• Create Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) for the Battery production system
• Author first generation of work instructions
• Troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment, PLC controls, robotics, and vision inspection systems
• Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment and tooling 
• Support efforts for continuous improvements by identifying ways to improve quality, throughput, and reduce cost

What You Need

• Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineer or similar with 5+ years of experience
• Hands-on experience with battery module and/or pack manufacturing
• Demonstrated experience with statistical process control and GD&T
• Experience developing production lines from prototype to mass production
• Experience with CAD, PLM, MES, and ERP software
• Passion for manufacturing
• Problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with wirebonding, laser welding, ultrasonic welding, electronic torque tools, adhesive dispense, and/or battery End Of Line test
• Experience with high voltage systems: cars, aircraft, etc.
• Prior experience in aerospace production system design
• Experience with NX/teamcenter
• Experience with MES development and integration
