This position has a base salary range of $104,000 - $130,000 - $156,000 USD annual . This range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience and time in the role.
Summary
The BCU IT Infrastructure team is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and service delivery-oriented Azure Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our team. The team is responsible for providing DevOps support for our project portfolio and operations teams delivering infrastructure in Azure & On-Premises, automatic deployment of services, establishing appropriate monitoring & alerting, and environmental support to ensure a fault-tolerant, reliable, and highly available environment for our business.
The candidate will be part of a team that is responsible for application onboarding, infrastructure provisioning, deployment automation, ITSM onboarding, maintain the environment for compliance, availability, optimized cloud cost while providing full application development lifecycle support across all environments including production support as per industry best practices and internal standards and controls.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading projects from inception to implementation in a robust, timely, and cost-effective manner. To be an effective engineer of this group, the candidate must be able to provide direction and feedback during architecture design/reviews, think strategically, have a strong desire to ensure that the team meets the highest standards in triage, analysis, and project management. Position requires solid experience in building partnerships with business stakeholders, development teams, analysts, architecture, automation, enterprise security, and internal Incident response teams to identify, design, and implement automated and efficient solutions and provide technical solutions, environmental operational support, triage, and remediate issues maximizing efficiency and availability of the platform on a day to day basis while also embracing agile/scrum methodologies and building DevOps culture and practices.
Role and Responsibilities
- Design cloud infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and highly available on Azure.
- Work collaboratively with various IT teams to define infrastructure and deployment requirements.
- Provision, configure and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure defined as code.
- Ensure configuration and compliance with configuration management tools.
- Administer and troubleshoot Windows & Linux based systems.
- Troubleshoot problems across a wide array of services and functional areas.
- Build and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of Azure & on-premises infrastructure and systems.
- Perform infrastructure cost analysis and optimization.
- Collaborate with the service desk to resolve trouble tickets and mitigate end-user issues with server infrastructure and applications.
- Collaborate with cross functional project teams to deploy infrastructure and applications for all business and IT projects in the company portfolio.
- Stay abreast of industry needs, trends, and best practices, quickly come up to speed on their technologies, balance diverse requests, and drive issues to resolution.
- Remain current on new products and standards in support of Cloud technologies and automation.
- Participate in an Architecture Review Board to assist in developing the technical roadmap for the company's technical footprint.
- Develop technical diagrams, and other technical documentation to be used by project and support teams.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Proven experience deploying & maintaining infrastructure in a Cloud and on-premises datacenter.
- Strong, proven experience as a DevOps engineer in a scalable production environment built on Azure.
- Minimum 5 years of overall related experience, with 2-3 years of experience supporting complex business applications in a large enterprise environment as per DevOps principles in an Agile environment.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Azure cloud environments & its offerings (PaaS, SaaS or IaaS) to design, document, and implement highly scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions.
- Proven experience with PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps, ARM templates, Azure Automation, Desired State Configuration, & IaC for deployment and administration of all Azure services.
- Proven experience multi-tasking by balancing the delivery of multiple simultaneous projects, working with applications teams to deliver hosting platforms with aggressive timelines.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting issues across multiple applications and platforms.
- Willing and able to provide excellent support 24x7 for the platform on an On-Call rotation basis.
- Experience with the Microsoft Azure and application infrastructure-related activities is a must.
- Proven experience with Agile practices, methodologies (Sprint planning, Daily Scrums, Backlog grooming, and updating ADO artifacts to ensure work is tracked appropriately.
- Strong conceptualization abilities, detailed oriented, critical/analytical thinking & troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently and deliver consistent results to difficult problems.
- Strong team player with a desire to learn by collaborating with peers and other IT & business teams.
- Effective organization and communication skills, both written and verbal to the extent of communicating technical issues to non-technical stakeholders eloquently.
- Proven experience working with cross functional project teams across an organization.
- Proven experience in supporting cloud solutions across PaaS and IaaS platforms for cloud services, Azure DevOps, Azure Automation, Azure Monitor, Insights, Log Analytics, PowerBI, Azure Active Directory.
- Working Knowledge with Azure Policies and Role Based Access Controls (RBAC).
- Working knowledge of networking concepts (DNS/DHCP/Firewalls/Sub-netting, etc.).
- REST API Development preferred.
- Working knowledge of Containers and Kubernetes preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field.
- Microsoft Certifications (Microsoft Azure preferred).
- Proven experience in coaching and mentoring junior team members.
