About The Position
The Benefits Analyst is responsible for leading the analysis, design, implementation and administration of benefit plans, including but not limited to healthcare, life insurance, qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, and other programs available to co-workers, retirees and beneficiaries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the project manager in the execution of the benefits strategy. Examples include the vendor selection/request for proposal process, benefit plan design review and change implementation.
- Manage and develop the process for the administration of benefit plans. Many processes require collaboration with 3rd party benefit administrators to develop processes flow for data sharing and the participant experience.
- Leverage multiple systems and contacts to research and resolve complex benefit issues. Develop and implement appropriate action plans or recommendations to resolve the issue.
- Analyze data associated with the employee benefit plans and prepare cost analyses. Conduct and/or interpret statistical analyses to support benefit plan design change considerations.
- Manage compliance requirements for applicable regulations and laws governing benefit programs.
- Develop and maintain Summary Plan Descriptions and other plan documentation as required.
- Review and reconcile benefit plan invoices to ensure appropriateness and compliance with general accounting practices.
- Research and compile information for budget projections and assist in other financial forecasting needs.
- Lead, coordinate and/or support employee communication efforts to create the desired experience for plan participants, in multiple formats (print, video, live presentations, etc.).
- Maintain relationships with the Ameren benefit service providers and hold them accountable to high quality service delivery.
- Lead and/or serve as a subject matter expert on cross-functional teams, special projects or other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Five or more years of related (e.g., human resources, benefits or other program design and administration, financial analysis, or auditing) experience required.
- Team or project leadership experience required.
- Additional certifications such as CPA, SPHR or PHR, CEBS preferred.
- Thorough understanding of the federal legislation impacting employee benefits preferred. Basic understanding of Human Resources policies and practices preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proficiency in general accounting practices and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365.
- Experience with HRIS systems, reporting, and vendor file set up.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, flexibility to shift priorities as needed, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Project management skills with the ability to work within and leverage project management tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
Additional Information:
The Benefits Analyst works a hybrid schedule flexing time between home and office environment.
Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.
