BI Developer

Role Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our BI team and focus on data analysis and visualization.

This role requires diverse skills and will suit a person who is adaptable and willing to learn new technical skills as well as become a business domain expert. The team works very closely with our business users, there are no BAs / PMs / Testers so it is a great opportunity for a curious mind to learn about the business and their end users without any project scaffolding. Projects are delivered end to end by individuals – from inception and design with the end users, to development, testing, deployment and post deployment support. We find this accelerates project delivery and minimizes communication issues and the business users are also extremely engaged and supportive of development projects; they can often code themselves so this role is about adding expertise, not just capacity. 

We work in a mixture of SQL Server, Analysis Services Tabular with ReportServices and PowerBI for MIS and BI Reporting, as well as modern solutions using Snowflake, Airflow, DBT and cubeJS, and leveraging Tableau CRM and Jupyter notebooks for gaining data insights

This role will suit a pure-play and full stack BI developer who has had some exposure to writing code (in C# or similar, and JavaScript) or scripting (in PowerShell or other languages such as Python).

Responsibilities:

• Building data analysis pipelines and frameworks for business-critical systems.
• Delivering insightful and data rich interactive BI reports to business and technology user.
• Working with cloud-based databases such as Snowflake.

Requirements:

• Demonstratable experience working with complex data sets, preferably with prior experience in a financial setting.
• Strong analysis skills to extract requirements from end users rather than work from a fixed spec.
• Excellent reporting and presentation skills.
• A focus on automation and developing solutions that don’t need hands on work to repeat.
• The ability to provide clarity and insight through compelling data visualization.
• A focus on data quality.
