About This Role:

The Billing Specialist is responsible for processing claims and authorizations for reimbursement.

  • Process accurate and timely electronic claim submissions to DHS and various insurance companies
  • Research and resolve unpaid claims to maximize reimbursements
  • Submit client authorization requests to DHS and insurance companies to ensure they are up to date
  • Review and process client authorizations
  • Verify client eligibility through the DHS MN-ITS website on a regular basis
  • Maintain knowledge of agency requirements for credentialing providers
  • Process and send out monthly client invoices
  • Assist payroll staff with timely and accurate processing of biweekly timecards
  • Use excellent communication skills and provide outstanding customer service to internal staff and external contacts.

About You:

  • Degree, certification or coursework in Accounting, Finance or Business and/or applicable medical billing experience is required.
  • Medicaid billing experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of DHS MN-ITS website.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task independently and as a team with little supervision.
  • Superior attention to details with strong analytical and problem solving.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Must pass a background study with the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
