Billing Specialist

Planet Technologies, the Nation’s leading Microsoft services provider to the public sector, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as a Billing Specialist. In this role, you will be supporting impactful projects that benefit our country.

This individual will provide accurate and timely billing to Planet's customers while following the company's financial policies and procedures. Applicants will use Excel and Dynamics SL accounting system to generate a large number of project-based invoices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare T&M and fixed price services invoices based on timecards and customer purchase orders as well as direction from managers.
• Prepare supporting documentation as required by the purchase order.
• Send out invoices through various methods including email and invoicing portals.
• Prepare and review travel expense billings and creates invoices based on customer requirements. Gather pertinent data including Joint or GSA per diem rates, travelers’ expense reports and company credit card transactions.
• Prepare and apply credit memos.
• Perform day to day financial transactions including verifying, classifying, computing, applying and recording accounts receivable data.
• Verify billing accounts with accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly applied.
• Maintain and update project folders containing contracts, purchase orders, invoices, billing methodology and A/R correspondence.
• Verify discrepancies and resolve clients billing issues.
• Generate customer statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status.
• Support collections efforts as required.

Skills Required

• Experience in Microsoft Dynamics SL
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Knowledge of the FAR’s related to billing the Federal Government
• Advanced understanding of FP, FPTM and TM projects.
• Proficiency in the IPP billing interface
• Proficiency in the WAWF billing interface
• Understand and decipher a government contract including the Federal standard form 30
• Proficiency in the Joint and Federal Travel Regulations.
• Proficiency in reading, understanding, and billing against Federal, state, local and commercial customer purchase orders
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
• Proficient in English
• Proficiency in MS Excel
• Ability to work harmoniously in a team environment.

Essentials

• 3+ years of experience as billing specialist utilizing automated billing software.
• 3+Years of experience as a billing specialist in a Federal government contractor.
• College level course work in accounting
• Hybrid Schedule: Must be able to be onsite 3 days per week in Gaithersburg, MD

Salaries for Billing Specialists at Planet Technologies range from $50,000 and $70,000. Several factors will impact final pay offered to a successful candidate including but not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, clearance level, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, training, etc.
