Bioinformatics Pipeline Engineer

Scribe Therapeutics is a molecular engineering company focused on creating best-in-class in vivo therapies that permanently treat the underlying cause of disease. We are seeking a highly creative, passionate, and motivated individual to join us in our quest to develop the next generation of CRISPR-based therapeutics. The current role is for a Bioinformatics Pipeline Engineer to join our team and advance our platform. The candidate should have a passion for working collaboratively with biologists and bioengineers to enable building the necessary tools for meeting the new frontier of CRISPR-based therapeutics. Additionally, the candidate would bring expertise in data analysis and computational approaches for gaining insight into high-throughput molecular engineering approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve our existing codebase of bioinformatics pipelines using software development best practices (i.e. version control, workflow management)
• Develop and deploy new analysis pipelines for an expanding set of NGS assays that advance our therapeutic pipelines
• Work closely with Molecular Engineering,  and NGS core facility, and Automation teams to deliver analyzed data on a regular schedule
• Ensure code reusability by maintaining documentation and implementing testing procedures; develop codebase for entire bioinformatics team
• Effectively communicate analysis approaches and results with close collaborators and across the company
• Foster a driven, fast-paced, dynamic, and fun environment in which to do rigorous science

Required Skills and Background:

• 2+ years experience in python programming (preferred), unix command line, bioinformatic toolkits, and version control systems (e.g. git)
• 1+ years experience writing production code in a team setting
• Experience writing and maintaining end-to-end analysis bioinformatics software and analysis pipelines with workflow management tools (e.g. snakemake)
• Experience with databases (e.g. SQL), cloud computing (e.g. AWS), and API integration 
• Strong working knowledge of bioinformatic file types and public genomics databases
• Strong working knowledge Firm understanding of next generation sequencing platforms and molecular biology of sample preparation
• Demonstrated quantitative and scientific thinker as evidenced by a strong publication record
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross functional team
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research team

Preferred Skills and Background:

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Biophysics, Genomics or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with CRISPR technologies and therapeutic approaches
• Familiarity with protein or RNA structure and engineering approaches
