Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro is a leading autonomous technology company with vehicles on road today in California and Texas. The company’s core technology is the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system consisting of state-of-the-art, AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware. The first commercial application of the Nuro Driver is autonomous goods delivery with our custom, electric, zero-occupant vehicles in partnership with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Uber and FedEx.

About the Role

Our Operations team is growing and we are looking for a Bot Operator to join us. In this role, you will not only be monitoring Nuro’s autonomous system performance, but also help to accelerate Nuro’s autonomy system by mimicking real-world driving scenarios and interactions in the field using a variety of tools. Professionalism, care, and personal accountability are significant attributes as you will be expected to adhere to the culture of safety and standards of conduct exemplified by the team. You will be trained on Nuro’s proprietary systems and expected to pass several training checkpoints.

About the Work

• Provide onsite support for our Nuro vehicles at our Las Vegas office up to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week
• Operate and program robotic platforms for use in structured testing
• Assist in the assembly of workspaces and carry out duties relating to site improvements (e.g. mapping, validating, and deploying)
• Collaborate closely with our software engineers, hardware engineers, and operations team to monitor Nuro’s autonomous systems on different vehicle platforms, and advance our technologies and internal workflows to ultimately help craft our product roadmap
• Safely and effectively maneuver around Nuro bots in a closed course environment with different transportation mediums (i.e. car, bike, and self)
• Assist in the collection of data, and troubleshooting issues that may arise in the field
• Occasionally interact with members of the public to educate them on autonomous vehicle technologies and behaviors

About You

• Possess a valid NV drivers license for 3+ years with an absence of any major infractions
• Able to reliably work our AM shift (6:00am-2:30pm Pacific Time) Monday through Friday
• Reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented
• Self-driven and have experience working in dynamic environments, or the DNA to thrive in one
• Excellent collaboration and verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrate good judgment in fast-paced, high stress situations
• Willing to learn and develop new skills 
• Able to work independently or in small groups and for periods without direct supervision
• Able to remain flexible with the changing needs of the business
• Proficient in computer skills i.e. Google Workspace, Windows/iOS/Linux-based operating systems
• Able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, spend extended periods standing, and able to work in temperatures above 100°F

• Past Autonomous Vehicle experience
• Defensive Driver Certification
• Familiarity with Linux-based systems

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position the reasonably expected base hourly rate is $21 per hour. Any future increases in pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, education, location, and skills. You may also be entitled to a yearly bonus based on individual and company performance.
