Position Description

As the Brand Narrative Manager, you will own copywriting across all our marketing channels, working closely with our internal teams and agencies to bring our brand story to life. You are both creative and analytical, with an exceptional understanding of the role of each channel within the marketing funnel and summarizing complex concepts in an aspirational tone. You are a masterful storyteller, instrumental in elevating our consumer messaging to acquire new customers, engaging our social communities, and fostering new leads to book a stay at a Sensei Retreat. You are a strategic thinker who can craft compelling stories that attract, engage, and activate audiences.  

To thrive in this position, you should be able to balance strategic campaigns and everyday tactical efforts. You will be responsible for producing copy daily, as well as leading the planning and execution of our editorial strategy including monthly email and social media content calendars, website messaging, collateral to support the retreats, and retail, product, and service descriptions, to name a few. 

This role reports directly to the VP of Brand and Marketing and works closely with the Marketing Manager and Design Director, as well as provides cross-functional support to all aspects of the business including Operations, Retail, Business Development, and the Wellness Science Divisions.  

Responsibilities 

  • Write and edit copy across various levels of content (web, email, social, paid media, email newsletters, service and retail product descriptions, press Q&A’s, etc.) 
  • Develop a cohesive content strategy and annual editorial calendar that supports business goals across every marketing channel 
  • Execute (or in some cases oversee third party) copywriting for creative requests ensuring deliverables meet the requirements set forth in the brief and are delivered in a timely fashion  
  • Work collaboratively across the marketing team, own development, and execution of our content calendars in a way that reflects brand framework, seasonal themes, and individual product launches, both evergreen and seasonal 
  • Work closely with Brand/Marketing Leads and Agencies to understand channel needs, creating a content plan for each to drive brand awareness and performance 
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally with programming and property teams to lead brand reviews and copy editing for service descriptions utilized across marketing website, collateral and retreat weekly activity calendar 
  • Support the Brand team to refine high level campaign messaging for new product launches, holidays, and other brand activations, working closely with the Design Director to ensure cohesiveness between verbal and visual content in alignment with our brand guidelines 
  • Continuously expand and evolve our tone, voice, and marketing content strategy to have an elevated and differentiated point of view within the luxury and wellness categories 
  • Spearhead conceptual creative development for copy-heavy projects including but not limited to guest/sales collateral and wellness retail products  
  • Keep an active pulse on campaign and channel performance to continuously hone our messaging effectiveness across the funnel 
  • Provide support and clear communication to the senior management team on current and new initiatives as requested 
  • Understand target user’s motivations, needs and conversion path as it relates to the project at hand 
  • Active participation in the cross-functional creative and brand review process including proofreading presentations and all guest-facing touch points 
  • Collaborates closely with Design Director 
  • Support Marketing to meet departmental goals and KPI’s while keeping timelines and budget parameters top of mind to ensure success 
  • Support leadership requests and ad-hoc assignments as required, working to prioritize requests and provide transparency around the process to set proper expectations along the way

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience 

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in English, communications or related field 
  • 5 years or more in a copywriting position working across multiple marketing channels to produce deliverables with varied goals (inspire, educate, engage, convert)  
  • Ideally 2 years or more in a senior creative role, contributing to content strategies, interfacing with leadership and finessing tone/deliverables to meet performance metrics 
  • Luxury experience preferred (hospitality experience a plus) 
  • Social media experience either in copywriting or community management a plus 
  • Artistically opinionated – can articulate and defend verbal recommendations and work with non-creative stakeholders to translate feedback / business needs and iterate accordingly 
  • Successfully manages time and shifting priorities including tight deadlines and last-minute requests 

Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities 

  • Proficient with content planning/project management tools such as Asana 

Required Licenses/Certifications 

  • Proficient in APA style grammar and upholding guidelines in proofing processes
