What you get to do: 

We are looking for an experienced and energetic BSA Officer (Sr. Director) to join OppFi’s expanding and dynamic Compliance Department. This role will report directly to the Chief Compliance and Enterprise Risk Officer.  The OppFi BSA/AML Program Compliance Officer (“BSA Officer”) is designated by OppFi’s  Board of Directors and is responsible for the BSA/AML Program and compliance with the BSA and its implementing regulations. The BSA Officer is also responsible for updating the BSA/AML Program as necessary to reflect changes in regulations. Further, the BSA Officer is responsible for all aspects of the design, implementation, reporting and compliance with respect to this Program to include, but not be limited to:

  • Determining the structures and resource levels of the BSA/AML Program throughout the Company;
  • Ensuring resources are deployed effectively to mitigate BSA/AML Program risks;
  • Driving communication to Executive Management and other stakeholders with respect to issues concerning the BSA/AML Program;
  • Representing the BSA/AML Program to the Board and Executive Management;
  • Maintaining relationships with BSA/AML Program external auditors, regulatory and other authoritative bodies;
  • Controlling, managing and administering the BSA/AML Program budget and resource planning;
  • Accounting for BSA/AML Program protocols, technology, risk analysis, information systems, and operations;
  • Developing best practices for the respective business divisions;
  • Communicating with business partners in a timely and effective manner;
  • Protecting OppFi from legal, regulatory and reputational risk with business involving sanctioned individuals, entities, and/or countries;
  • Tracking and following up upon the conditions that have been imposed as part of the Consumer Identification Program (CIP);
  • Developing and maintaining procedures and systems to ensure that unusual and suspicious transactions are reported as required, including reporting to local authorities as appropriate;
  • Developing and implementing adequate controls to ensure that all applicable legal and regulatory BSA/AML requirements are being adhered to throughout OppFi; and
  • Ensuring all reporting and recordkeeping requirements are satisfied.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  CAMS certification required. JD a plus.
  • 10+ years relevant experience leading teams in BSA/AML compliance, preferably in consumer finance or fintech companies. Experience at a high-growth start-up is preferred.
  • Experience working with and presenting to senior management and boards of directors and relevant committees.
  • Expert knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN guidance, OFAC requirements and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements.
  • The ability to identify and solve for potential compliance and business issues present therein.
  • Experience creating and standing-up new teams and new projects preferred.
  • A “driver” personality; constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery while balancing the need for great cross-team collaboration.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and an enthusiasm for learning new areas of law.
  • A passion for improving the lives of consumers through OppFi products.
  • Humility, integrity and a killer sense of humor; you take your work seriously, but not yourself. 

Reports to: Chief Compliance Officer

Job Level: Senior Director

The minimum salary for this role is $175,000. The total compensation package includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses as well as a 1-time equity grant based on level.

The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion, and determined by a myriad of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, and other relevant business considerations.
