Your Opportunity

Scion is paving a path in student living and we’re seeking an experienced HR Payroll Analyst to join us in executing our vision. This position will focus on the preparation, maintenance, processing, analysis and auditing of payroll data, information, records and reports; ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll transactions and provide insight into variances.

The Payroll Analyst is an analytical thinker that excels in a fast-paced, agile, corporate environment. This role demands knowledge of state and federal payroll regulations, inherent detail orientation, and a collaborative approach to working with others.

Your Responsibilities

• Analyze budgets and provide thorough reasoning for variances, as requested.
• Oversee and conduct regular audits for efficiency and accuracy on payroll procedures and transactions. Design, document and implement procedures to streamline payroll processes.
• Analyze compensation-related data, including wages and bonuses.
• Prepare various reports and forecasts for management. Collaborate and coordinate with various departments such as Accounting, Corporate Finance and Operations.
• Prepare and manage quarterly state unemployment filings and uploads along with timely, accurate unemployment tax payments.
• Respond to unemployment tax correspondence and inquiries, including research in providing support documentation, proof of documentation, mailing, emailing and phone calls to state agencies and 3rd party unemployment vendors.
• Ensure compliance with all compensation and tax regulations. Prepare and submit all necessary paperwork for tax deductions, benefits and garnishments.
• Remain current on state and federal payroll and tax laws within the United States and Canada.

What We Require

• Minimum of Associate’s degree with course work in business, accounting, human resources management or relevant field
• Proven experience as a Payroll Analyst, Payroll Coordinator or similar role
• Proficient knowledge of state and federal payroll and tax regulations
• Hands-on experience with payroll software (Vena, ADP and Concur are a plus)
• Proficient with Excel and spreadsheets
• Excellent analytical skills

Operational Details

• Job location is based at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters.
• Working hours consist of standard daytime business hours.
