Budget Manager
Job Description
WestCoast Children’s Clinic, located in Oakland, California, is a non-profit community psychology clinic that provides mental health services to Bay Area children, youth and families. WestCoast Children's Clinic is seeking a responsible and experienced Budget Manager to manage our $25M organizational budget and oversee and manage the transition from an Excel based budget to Adaptive Workday FP&A tool.
The ideal candidate should be familiar with GAAP and budgeting principles and have excellent numeracy skills with the ability to analyze and present complex data. To be successful in this role, exceptional critical thinking skills are required to create financial forecasts which support budgeting decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the annual budget with the support from the CFO and other Management team members.
- Update the monthly forecast and report accurately and timely on actual financial results against the budgetÂ
- Work collaboratively with the Accounting Manager on preparing and analyzing month-end actuals and annual financial reporting packages for submission to members of Management, ensuring GAAP and Uniform Guidance (Title 2 – US Code of Federal Regulations Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards)
- Support the preparation of budgets for new program proposals.
- Prepare budget analysis and reports to the organization's funding sources and annual cost settlement reporting for the organization's funding sources.
- Support the CFO in the preparation of the Finance Committee reporting package.
- Supervise the Non-Profit Financial Analyst
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field preferred.
- Three years of experience as Budget Analyst/Budget Manager.
- Three years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- 2+ years in a supervisory or management position.
- The ability to define financial goals, identify costs and gather supporting data.
- Strong analytical thinking skills to interpret financials and identify errors, and financial analysis skills to evaluate WCC's performance and financial status
- Ability to create estimates for revenue and spending based on past data and/or forecasted changes.Â
- Ability to react quickly to changing circumstances, adapt to unexpected challenges, and prepare for contingencies.
- Outstanding organizational skills are needed to manage and track financial data, maintain financial reports effectively, and identify situations when the budget/forecast should be adjusted to reflect updated financial results.
- Familiarity with cost principles in the Uniform Guidance (Title 2 – US Code of Federal Regulations Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards)Â
- Comfortable with various computer applications and related technology. For example, Abila MIP, Zoom, Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Calendar), Adaptive Workday and ADP payroll software.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel experience is needed, including Pivot tables, V-Lookup, SUMIFS, and Conditional Formatting while having the ability to dissect complex formulas.
- Understand the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in financial accounting activities.
- Knowledge of payroll, payroll tax requirements, and labor standards.

Position Details and Compensation:
This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the CFO. Salary range $110,000-$140,000 per year depending on experience, and includes benefits, 403b, and performance-based compensation plans.
