WME Business Affairs
The WME Business Affairs department utilizes the law, contracts and business judgment to strategize with WME agents to make the best deals for our clients. We also manage contractual relationships between WME’s clients and buyers, and advise company executives to effectively balance business and legal risks.
What You'll Do:
We seek a talented and highly motivated junior attorney or experienced contracts executive to join the WME Books Business Affairs team to support the literary agents of WME. The ideal candidate has at least two years’ transactional publishing experience in-house (at an agency or publisher) and/or at a top law firm, and expertise in copyright, intellectual property and licensing. This is a high-volume practice supporting agents in the US and UK who operate within tight timeframes and whose author clients include bestselling writers and media personalities with a wide range of literary properties.

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating US and international book publishing agreements

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating ancillary agreements including collaboration agreements, audio reader agreements, photography and illustration agreements, releases and NDAs

Providing real-time advice to agents on business and legal issues, including questions of copyright, intellectual property, contract interpretation and enforcement, through best practices and WME precedent

Effecting the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and processes

Undertaking special projects as required
You Have These:

Admitted attorney or seasoned publishing contracts executive with at least 2-4 years of transactional publishing experience

Knowledge of, and ideally enthusiasm for, intellectual property rights

Outstanding drafting, negotiation and organizational skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact with a range of personalities and styles in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Per local requirements and in the interest of transparency, the range shown below reflects the prevalent current hiring range for this position. Hiring pay rates are based on a number of factors, including location and may vary depending on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience. Endeavor strives to provide locally competitive rewards packages, which include base rate along with, as applicable, short- and long-term incentives, growth and developmental opportunities, and robust benefits, such as health care, retirement, vacation and other paid time off, and additional offerings.
Hiring Range Minimum:
$112,500 annually
Hiring Range Maximum:
$150,000 annually
