The Business Analyst is the central point of contact for the PMO work intake and internal reporting. You’ll need to be able to work with people at all levels of Gas South. You’ll also need to be organized, effectively manage your time, exercise initiative and take the lead on tasks. A successful candidate for this role will have experience in business requirements analysis and definition. The Business Analyst is responsible for translating business requirements into technology requirements, working closely with business teams, IT solutions architects as well as IT delivery teams to design, develop, and deploy solutions. The Business Analyst wears many hats on projects and is responsible for everything from requirements gathering, testing, training, and post deployment support. Other desirable traits include the ability to multi-task, excellent communication skills, trustworthiness, attentiveness, and adaptability to a changing environment. It helps to think creatively about what needs to be done and how to get there, taking the lead on task that others might not even have thought about yet.
Other stuff we like:
- Bachelor’s degree with major course work in business, information systems or related field.
- Minimum of three years’ prior experience in field or related area.
- Solid understanding of business practices with fundamental understanding of project management methodology.
- The ability to influence stakeholders and drive the determination of acceptable solutions
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Experience working in Waterfall, Agile Scrum, or Kanban methodologies
- Track record of following through on commitments
- History of leading and supporting successful projects
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Products (e.g. Excel, Visio, Project, etc.)
More details on what you would be responsible for:
- Perform business analysis support for business and functional applications, including analyzing and documenting business processes and translating business objectives into business requirements.
- Consult with internal customers to identify, analyze, refine, and document business and functional requirements.
- Work in collaboration with internal staff and vendor resources to develop approach, design, and project timelines.
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches; ensures the technical solution meets the business objectives.
- Perform business impact analysis and develop a risk mitigation strategy for system / process changes.
- Identify requirements for testing, develop test plans, and work with users to develop test scripts.
- Develop and maintain user acceptance testing criteria.
- Execute test scripts as necessary.
- Participate in projects; lead a variety of project team activities.
- Review operational procedures and methods, map current business processes, define and analyze business activities, identify best practices, and recommend improvements.
- Ensure proper documentation is maintained by Gas South staff and vendors.
- Support defect analysis and resolution.
