Business Analyst, Commerce
Job Description
Advance Local's content marketing agency, Headline Studio, is seeking a Business Analyst, Commerce with data analytics experience who can analyze business and audience trends to identify opportunities for maximizing affiliate revenue across our nationwide network of websites.
Our Affiliate Marketing team works with eCommerce reporters in all of the newsrooms of Advance Local, which is one of the nation's largest digital local publishers operating in New Jersey, New York, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Alabama and Oregon. Our commerce reporters work to provide valuable recommendations for shopping, entertainment and travel options in their respective communities.
The Business Analyst, Commerce will support growth by providing in-depth reporting, analysis and actionable insights that allow us to reach our audiences with stories that help them make informed purchases that enrich their lives. This role is critical in helping editorial teams and other stakeholders align smart deals, efficient rates and audience interests to achieve revenue and traffic goals.
In this role, you will:
- Complete in-depth analyses and interpret data to provide well thought out recommendations on topics, merchants and audience interests designed to help grow revenue.
- Identify commerce content and distribution opportunities as well as best practices based on analysis and performance trends.
- Use commerce performance data to learn and predict consumer shopping habits.
- Use digital analytics tools to drive, devise and manage large volume data analysis projects.
- Communicate insights and recommendations with other internal teams, e.g eCommerce editorial.
- Organize and present large amounts of quantitative information into concise and understandable presentations.
- Gather and provide regular reporting on affiliate performance, i.e. weekly and monthly standing reports.
For this position we're looking for candidates with:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in data analytics or equivalent experience
- Minimum two years' experience in data analytics or business analysis, preferably in affiliate marketing or eCommerce
- Experience with reporting and analysis using web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Parsely
- Advanced proficiency in Excel is required
- Highly analytical with ability to think critically and incorporate data and testing into the decision-making process
- Ability to manipulate data and draw actionable insights, clearly articulated and presented to various stakeholders
- Passion for data and digital media
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects with deadlines, and exceptional attention to detail
