Business Analyst - Hawaii (3782)

SMX is seeking a Business Analyst to join our State and Local team. This is a remote position based in Hawaii. The Business Analyst will translate business needs into technical objectives by gathering user requirements, developing recommendations for implementation, and identifying solutions to satisfy the business need. Successful candidates will have experience reporting project status to management including risks, issues, and key decisions. You will understand the overall direction and nuanced user needs clearly, and you will work to communicate business needs across various stakeholders. This role will participate in testing and other application support activities, as well, and will work closely with clients and project teams. This role is remote supporting a Honolulu, HI based team with occasional travel.

To be successful as a Business Analyst, you should possess business analysis skills and requirements gathering skills needed to research and document complex business requirements, use cases, and test cases. You will investigate, troubleshoot, and enhance complex application functionality. This role will participate in testing and other application support activities, as well.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Understand business processes and interpret them to define requirements, analyze current as-is processes and conceptualize to-be requirements.
• Support the development of detailed user requirements, user stories, test scenarios and test cases.
• Support solution developers and business subject matter experts with documentation of functional and technical processes using Lucid.
• Develop detailed process maps and business process procedure documentation.
• Analyze data and draw conclusions from the data as it relates to business processes.
• Develop Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word documentation.
• Work with subject matter experts to define performance measures and collection methodology.
• Support project management activity including metric analysis, process analysis, system analysis, measuring success, and stakeholder and leadership reporting.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required.  Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
• 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Word skills.
• Experience with case management systems, preferably in the Health and Human services area. 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

•    Certified Business Analysis Professional, Agile or Scrum Master Certification, or Certified Product Owner is a plus.
•    Knowledge and experience with the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) is desired.
