A Brief Summary of This Position:

Valmont is seeking a Business Analyst Intern to join the Irrigation division. The Business Analyst Intern is accountable for planning, supporting and launching efficient business and operations systems/processes. This includes gathering business requirements from product owners. The incumbent will apply proven communication, analytical, testing, and problem-solving skills to help create efficient and effective systems and processes. The incumbent will assist with projects and help deliver results that will benefit the organization. The incumbent will have the ability to work well in a diverse team environment that has the aptitude to work with multiple teams across the world. The incumbent would be part of a high performing team that expects as much from themselves as they do from each other.

Valmont's internship program mission is to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, leadership development, job shadowing and interaction with senior leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with product owners to obtain business needs and translate into technical requirements
  • Guide Valmont technical teams in an agile fashion using scrum framework
  • Partner with senior business analyst and assist on developing user stories for the team

  • Create process improvements working with cross-functional team
  • Prepare user interface/user experience design documentation
  • Assist with quality analysis during testing cycles

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Undergraduate or graduate level standing pursuing a Bachelor's (with Junior and Senior standing) or Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Supply Chain/Operations, Business Intelligence & Analytics (BIA), FinTech

  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Great communication skills and problem-solving skills
  • Business acumen
  • Self-learner

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly Qualified Candidate Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of SQL

  • Knowledge of Agile methodology
  • Any software classes
  • Interest in technology
  • Knowledge of CRM Platform, such as Salesforce
  • Experience in data visualization tools, such as Power BI

  • Comfortable taking self-paced classes on the web
  • Has curiosity to find new ways to solve problems

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
