Title: Business Analyst Internship, Summer 2024
Internship candidates can expect a full-time onsite internship program, running from May 30, 2024 to August 9, 2024.
Carefully selected from universities across the country, our interns bring distinctive ideas and perspectives to our organization. Our employees are passionate about building our emerging talent and future leaders. After application and initial screening conversation, interns are aligned interviewed, and hired to a specific team at NM based on their abilities and interests, providing exposure to real-world business perspectives through hands-on learning and substantial work. In addition to their day-to-day tasks, interns participate in professional development workshops, senior leadership Q&A's, volunteer initiatives, networking/social events, and more!
Business Analyst Internship
As a Business Analyst Intern, you will work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to define problem statements, analyze/evaluate solutions, and execute features that deliver business results through technology critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. You'll work with a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, designers, and subject matter authorities in an agile methodology. Pay rates for internships are determined based on academic tenure and major.
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location. Business Analyst Internship
As a Business Analyst Intern, you will work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to define problem statements, analyze/evaluate solutions, and execute features that deliver business results through technology critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. You'll work with a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, designers, and subject matter authorities in an agile methodology. We are here to help you both identify and continue to develop your future career goals and passions. See below for a list of Product areas where Business Analyst interns could be deployed:
- Design : Support the design organization across product design, content strategy, and service design to craft the organization's digital platforms. Department placement can include CX Design, Enterprise Experience Design, Planning Experience, Content Strategy, and Program Management.
- User Experience: Support the UX Research team in research initiatives focused on gathering user feedback, analyzing research insights, user analytics, and other data to inform the design of NM's products and systems. You'll partner with UX Research, Product and Engineering teams to formulate these insights into recommendations and implementation across out suite of products and systems.
- Field Experience: Support the Field Experience (FX) office to meet the advisor/field where they are in their day and career as they use technology to manage their book of business, grow their career, coach and mentor their team, and monitor and optimize their revenue.
- Investment Product Services : Assist the Best Interest Program Office, which serves the enterprise with project management, financial services products, service and operations, technology, organizational change, communications, law, compliance, and risk and controls. Support and serve the 12,000 financial professionals to assist clients with their financial goals and objectives.
- Client Advocacy Planning & Execution: Support Client Advocacy Center of Excellence with organization of project documentation, published information, performance metrics and analysis.
Bring Your Best! What this role needs. Minimum qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Psychology, Communication, Information Science, Project Management or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following: Content strategy, visual design, data analytics, behavior science, or project management
Preferred skills and proficiencies
- Previous Content strategy, visual design, data analytics, behavior science, or project management internship and/or relevant project experience
- Experience with Power BI and data analytics tools
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proven analytical and problem-solving ability
- High degree of self-motivation, passion, and an aim to learn
- Ability to balance multiple priorities
