Business Analyst, Investment Operations - Asset Management

ROLE SUMMARY

Responsible for leading on large and/or complex projects within the Investment Operations division of Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM). The Business Process Management function is responsible for an end-to-end process analysis and design with an understanding of technical and operating challenges and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment. This role creates process change by integrating new processes with existing ones and communicating these changes to stakeholders, managing the change end-to-end. Subject matter expertise in Investment Operations within an Asset Management business is beneficial, particularly client administration and/or portfolio administration. Typically would have some type of certification such as six sigma.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult.
• As subject area expert, provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level.
• Operates independently and has in-depth knowledge of business unit, specific area of expertise and strong knowledge in other areas.
• Strategic in developing, implementing and administering programs within functional areas
• Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities
• Conducts preliminary analysis on existing processes or procedures with an eye on process efficiency and improvement
• Builds relationships across internal stakeholders, including management and leadership to educate on existing processes, propose changes, and gather acceptance for future-state processes

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
• In-depth Functional / Industry Knowledge is required
• Highly flexible and welcomes change
• Works best in an entrepreneurial environment, does not require constant direction to make progress
• Process mapping and documentation, using a variety of productivity tools and platforms
• Is thoughtful and methodical in considering all perspectives before making change

NECESSARY EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

• A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is preferred. Related Industry qualification is preferred.
