The Position

The Cloud Enterprise Initiatives team, part of the Chief Data Office, is responsible for the development of an authoritative, future-state Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud data environment, the first of its kind at New York Life (NYL).

The team is in search of a strong business analyst to lead and deliver on all business specifications related to cloud initiatives. The candidate will work closely with both business functions and the technology team to drive enterprise-wide adoption of the cloud. Note: This is an individual-contributor role at the Senior Associate level. This will be a mix of business facing and technical role.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with business units and technology to define, analyze, and document business requirements with focus on workflows, business rules, KPIs, and final outcomes
  • Own the entire lifecycle of business specifications and provide timely delivery to business, data, and tech teams
  • Actively engage with application & testing teams across the organization to understand legacy and strategic data system flows, transformations, entities, and relationships
  • Consult on defining enterprise sources and building physical data models
  • Track milestones, activities and interdependencies across projects and tasks, with frequent status updates
  • Analyze source systems to understand lineage and define authoritative sources and systems of record
  • Anomaly discovery, root cause and gap analysis, and defect triage
  • Lead business user acceptance testing and validation including definition of test scenarios and scripts to support business and technology teams in end-to-end QA testing efforts
  • Prioritize projects and rationalize data products and downstream reports and other data dependencies

Requirements:

  • Experience in data/technology change projects and varying project / program environments (waterfall, scrum/agile, etc.)
  • Experience working with business requirements through to system level functional specifications
  • Experience in business and data analytics
  • Strong programming/coding background (SQL, R, Python, SAS)
  • Strong background with relational database design and data pipeline architecture
  • Ability to define and execute test strategies and approaches
  • Ability to explain technical solutions to technical and non-technical teams
  • A proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Must be very organized and have excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must be team oriented and able to interact with a diverse group
  • Experience with cloud implementations (AWS, Redshift, Snowflake) is a plus
  • Naturally curious
