Job Description
Precise is looking for an experienced Agile Senior Business Analyst to play a key role in the development and implementation of a new product that will be integral to the future of U.S. food safety. In addition to expertise in the SDLC Agile framework, we are looking for a deep listener who can peel away layers to get to the heart of client requirements. We need someone who is a proactive, concise communicator, a strategic thinker, and has the ability to think ahead about interdependencies and anticipate risks -- a trusted resource for internal and external stakeholders. Experience with digital transformation, new cloud product builds, data integration, and managing a wide range of stakeholders would be helpful.
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for gathering and documenting system/business requirements, performing requirement analysis and systems analysis, liaising between stakeholders and development team, facilitating design and of software solutions, assisting with the testing process, and helping quality assurance process.
The position is mostly remote but may require occasional travel. Must be located in the East Coast or Central time zones.
Project Description
The AFDO SAFHER project (Association of Food and Drug Officials, System for Agriculture, Food, Health, E-Inspections, and Registration) is building out a new, modernized version of a legacy platform, using Appian. As the build phase continues, we are growing the team with a Project Manager and a Senior Business Analyst to begin customer on-boarding and implementation – which will require detailed requirements-gathering to facilitate configurations. This project is integral to improving the U.S. food safety process. Looking for a November 1 start date, no Public Trust clearance required.
Responsibilities
Responsible for stakeholder management, requirement elicitation, preparing estimations for business analysis tasks and deliverables, systems analysis, preparing functional specifications using user stories, acceptance criteria and use case narration. Responsible for ensuring unique business needs are properly translated to functional specifications and provide a system solution, assessing options for process improvement, leading cross functional team collaborations, assisting with the maintenance of project schedules and developing various status reports.
Job Requirements
- Plans business analysis efforts, including stakeholder analysis, communication planning, and elicitation techniques.
- Facilitates requirements meetings, interview sessions, brainstorming, documentation analysis, and other techniques as necessary.
- Supports customer meetings to understand current client business practices and business needs supporting requirements analysis.
- Ensures that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable, and that they conform to standards.
- Validates requirements with business stakeholders and team members.
- Collaborates with stakeholders and team members regarding requirements development and translation into software specifications.
- Supports traceability efforts from high-level business needs through functional validation
- Participates in requirements prioritization and backlog grooming sessions.
- Leads or participates in multiple efforts by completing and updating project documentation; manages project scope; adjusts schedules when necessary; determines daily priorities; ensures efficient and on-time delivery of project tasks and milestones; follows proper escalation paths; and manages customer and supplier relationships.
- Provides leadership to team members and peers by collaborating with others; articulating ideas and viewpoints to senior management, peers, and others; identifies and initiates projects; manages resources; drives the resolution of issues; and holds self and team accountable for results.
- Writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions and dependencies required to develop or modify applications.
- Manages changes to baseline requirements through effective application of change control processes and tools.
- Works closely with developers and testers to ensure all requirements are understood and have corresponding test scripts.
- Manages the documentation for multiple applications and releases across more than one development team while meeting deadlines.
Required Skills
- Seven (7) plus years of work experience in Information Technology as a Business Analyst in an Agile environment.
- Seven (7) plus years of work experience facilitating development of technical requirements, user stories, and mockups to address business needs and work with developers and testers to ensure solutions meet expectations.
- Able to facilitate meetings with business owners, technical leads, and other stakeholders.
- Captures business needs and develops corresponding functional solutions.
- Supports UAT efforts in conjunction with business owners/ users.
- Agile development practices
- Able to support Scrum Master activities for technical team coordination.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
- Proficient in formal software development life cycle processes
- Proficient with Microsoft DevOps
- Demonstrated abilities as a driven, self-starter and quick study.
