Business Analyst- Web App API
Job Description
We are currently seeking a highly detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will perform comprehensive technical requirements analysis and documentation mainly related to IT projects focused on APIs, Web technologies, and correspondence. You will work closely with your project team members to deliver quality, cost-effective system solutions to support both external and internal clients in an agile process.
- Analyzes and develops requirements for new systems and for enhancements to existing systems.
- Evaluates business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and using analytical skills to gather, document and optimize the requirements, making use of templates.
- Meets with clients, internal business Subject Matter Experts (SME's), operations analysts, and/or members of the development team to gather, define and document system requirements.
- Negotiates for positive outcomes when conflicting opinions arise surrounding requirements or process.
- Works effectively in waterfall, agile, or hybrid environments, making good use of documents, spreadsheets, PowerPoints, use cases, story boards, process flows, wire-framing, etc.
- Effectively communicates requirements insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
- Ensures solutions meet business needs and requirements, including the needs for test and assist testing when needed.
- Manages competing daily priorities.
- Provides requirements support during the Design, Development, Testing, Production phases of a project.
- Understands and is able to create requirements for APIs
- Is able to test APIs using Postman
- Is able to create requirements for web applications including an understanding of wireframes, usability requirements, and web application design best practices
- Can effectively translate the business needs to technical team members
- Provides estimates for time needed to complete the BA project work and tracks time appropriately.
- Sort the "needs" from the "wants" on projects
- Document requirements in a readable, yet usable format using user story methods and acceptance criteria
- Reduce requirement maintenance time by using effective analysis techniques
- Work effectively with the development team as they explore the requirements
- Ensure that testing aligns with the original intention of the requirement
- Help a set of users through the process of user acceptance testing
- Works under general supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment.
- Follows LTCG-defined processes for Requirements and Analysis work.
- Drives out process improvements as needed within a project. Provides insight and influence management on how to integrate requirements with current systems and business processes.
- Create RunBooks for the implementation, deployment, and usage of infrastructure changes.
- Supports solution design by providing insight at design sessions with IT teams to help translate requirements into workable business solutions; advocating for additional data and/or services as necessary to address key business issues.
- Create project documentation outside of bare requirements, through each stage of the project, based upon project needs and audit requirements (e.g., use cases, system flows, data models and training documents).
- Document and validate infrastructure requirements (e.g., operating system and/or application inventory).
- Collaborate on project communications and notifications (e.g., notifications regarding system outages and updates).
- Track and work on warranty instance problems and collaborate with other internal staff and vendors on resolution and communication.
Requirements
- Minimum of BA/BS with 3-5 years' experience or equivalent, demonstrable, work experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Visio, etc.
- Requirements traceability experience
Preferred Qualifications
- IT Infrastructure experience
- Business use case and modeling experience
- AHIP (America's Health Insurance Plans association) or related industry experience
- Development methodology/process experience (waterfall, agile, or others)
- Client/Server and N-Tier development project experience
- Requisite Pro, Compuware, or similar requirements management tool experience
- CBAP (Certified Business Analyst Professional)
